PH Dragon Boat team wins 2nd gold medal

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Dragon Boat team bagged another gold medal in the ongoing International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) 10th World Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida.

This time, the Filipino paddlers won first place in the Premier 200-meter mixed event with a time of 57.07 seconds.

Trinidad and Tobago came in second (01:00.719) followed by Puerto Rico (01:03.393) and Italy (01:03.941).

The Philippine team that entered the Premier 200-meter mixed event was composed of 5 men and 5 women.

The Filipino paddlers, who call themselves “Dragon Warriors,” earlier won the gold medal in the Premier 1,000m event (small boat) by setting a record time of 04:57.130.

The Dragon Warriors, who made it to the competition despite lack of funding, are grateful for the support extended by private sponsors, including the Filipino community in the US.

“Nagpapasalamat ang [Team] Pilipinas sa lahat ng sumuporta. Napakaraming Pinoy dito na patuloy ang pagdala ng pagkain tubig at energy bars,” said ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo, who is reporting straight from Tampa.

Dragon Warriors bag 3rd gold medal

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Dragon Boat team has bagged its third gold medal in the ongoing International Dragon Boat Federation 10th World Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida, US.

The Filipino paddlers led the 200-meter mixed event small boat division, besting teams from Italy, Trinidad and Tobago, and Japan.

This win was on top of the two gold medals they recently got for leading the competition’s premier 200-meter mixed event and in the 1000-meter men's event.

Meanwhile, the Philippine team fell behind Russia during the premier 200-meter men's division event, giving them their first silver medal.

i watched a regatta way back in 2007 and i remember the philippine dragon boat team losing to the camarines row team, not by a hair but by a big margin!

the philippine db team are not the strongest rowers! nakita ko yung rowers nung camarines up close...they look like a bunch of fishermen in their mid30s. These are probably 2nd or 3rd generation fisherfolk and I bet they've been paddling since they started to walk, with their physique i think one guy can deck 5 people hehe wouldnt want to be in a fight with any of them, too bad they dont get much exposure..no funds and no equipment

Mr Chito Loyzaga chairman pa mandin kayo, kumusta na? wala kayo magawa based on your interview radio at TV5.

Sana mahiya naman ang POC at PSC......baka gusto naman ng POC at PSC ipa sponsor ang PDBF ke MVP.

POC at PSC dont get me wrong are you that corrupt nowadays?!......well, some will say even before pa.
