Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank have reached a settlement of the various legal disputes including that pertaining to Manny Pacquiao. Bouts between Manny Pacquiao and marquee fighters under contract to Golden Boy will be co-promoted by Golden Boy and Top Rank. Fights between Manny Pacquiao against fighters other than Golden Boy fighters will be promoted by Top Rank with Golden Boy retaining a promotional interest. The first fight which will be presented under this arrangement will be Manny Pacquiao vs. Marco Antonio Barrera on October 6, 2007 at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy, and Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, both agreed that the settlement will be great for boxing as Top Rank fighters will be taking on Golden Boy fighters in the months and years ahead. All other details of the settlement are confidential.

this is a pretty much redundant fight.

paquiao has nothing to prove anymore with fighting a guy whom he beat satisfactorily.

barrera has no reason to climb up the ring with paquiao anymore, he licked the canvass for a good number of times.

marquez would have been a better choice.

pero syempre, pera pera na lang yan.

    October? Tagal pa nito.

Pacquiao pa rin yan. Lalo na ngayon, lahat ng galit niya, ibubuhos niya kay Barrera. Talo eh. Kelangang bawiin yung P140M pinamigay nya nung May elections.

It's a great matchup but I would prefer Pacman going against Joan Guzman, Edwin Valero and Juan Manuel Marquez. Barrera was soundly beaten by Juan Manuel in their last fight. I hope Pacman hurdles this fight and fight those fighters that I mentioned.

    yeah, that would be great.

guzman and valero are good boxers, but have low commercial value.

as for marquez, he's the world champion. but he's boring to watch.

as for barrera, well, he got knocked down by pacquaio in their first outing. barerra's been crying for the past year wanting to skin pacquiao for the sissy knockout because back then "he wasn't physicall and mentally" prepared.

pacquaio, just lost his congressional bid, and lost a lot of money in the run up.

as for their promoters, months of legal-wrangling brought them zero-money, but lots of newspaper and website coverage.

i smell green bucks. lots of it.
