Uyz!

Kidding aside, this goes to show you how the Japanese people have a strong affinity for robots. An interesting....gadget, and a big one at that.

imagine if that guy is given substantial funding or corporate backing.

Nice. I'd love to have this if it can only run fast --- or fly.

    Sayang... it just "rolls" around.

He he he, oo nga - sayang.

DARPA has both a robotic mule, and a robotic body suit prototypes for soldiers.

the mule is a 4-legged walking robot that can automagically follow a designated soldier. useful for carrying field packs, extra ammo, and that darn inconvenient M249 SAW which is too heavy. advantage over an ordinary mule is.. it doesn't spook at the sound of gunfire. disadvantage, a single bullet will cripple it.

the body suit, meanwhile, is more of just a "frame" which gets bolted to a soldier's arms and legs. sensors on the frame allow it to mimic the soldier's limb movements, allowing said soldier to lift 50 pounds with one hand, walk with 100+ pounds of baggage.. no armor though and it looks very primitive. powered by a small internal combustion engine (much like the Gears in the Heavy Gear games)

this is a Sarcos prototype, built by one of the DARPA contractors.

I'm waiting for the next step -- fully humanoid form factor and hover jet thrusters built into the legs, with 240km/h maximum ground hover speed.

Reminds me of the Mechwarrior robots, especially the Locust & Jenner types. I can't wait for a type Shadow Hawk and Timber Wolf to be developed with REAL pulse lasers.

The basic shape of the Land Walker kinda reminds me of a Mad Dog Battlemech.

Ang type kong battlemech is the almighty Atlas! Pwede na rin siguro yung Kodiak...
