Orcollo, Reyes eye P25M

DENNIS Orcollo and Efren “Bata” Reyes gained a shot at the record winner’s purse of $500,000 (P25 million) to make up for the unexpected fall of Francisco “Django” Bustamante and Alex Pagulayan in the International Pool Tour World 8-Ball Open championship Saturday.
The 27-year-old Orcollo and Hall of Famer Reyes made it to the Final 6 for the second straight time in the IPT, but Bustamante saw his 18-game winning run end and failed to advance along with Pagulayan after Round 5 at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada.
Completing the championship round were Americans Rodney Morris and Corey Deuel and former world 9-ball pool champions Mika Immonen of Finland and Oliver Ortmann of Germany.
Orcollo, who was third in the IPT North American Open last July, notched four wins against one loss and qualified in a tie for first with Immonen.
Reyes, winner of the inaugural World Cup of Pool with Bustamante, leaned on a hot start to post a 3-2 record and advance along with Ortman (4-1).
Orcollo beat Immonen (8-6), Americans Charlie Williams (8-6) and Danny Harriman, (8-7), and Europe's No. 1 Niels Feijen of the Netherlands (8-5). His only loss came at the hands of German Ralf Souquet (5-8).
The charismatic Reyes won three of his first four matches to lock up a seat in the final group play. He sandwiched a 2-8 loss to Ortmann with victories over Pagulayan, 8-6, Dimitri Jungo of Switzerland , 8-3, and Thomas Engert of Germany , 8-3. Reyes then lost to Michael Hill (2-8).

Si Bata pala ang lalaban sa finals vs. Morris. Pag minalas si Bata, $150K yung runner up prize, pag nagkataon at nagtuloy tuloy ang bwenas ni Reyes, hehehe, cool $.5M ang premyo

sabi ni morris sa intervew a day before the match, 8-6 daw ang maging score...tama nga sya, 8-6 pero sya yung talo.
sabi naman ni bata a day before the match...sana daw lagi ganon ka laki ng premyo ng IPT champion every year. just imagine kung gaano sya hahakot ng milyon milyon every year kung lagi sya ang champion

somebody correct me if i'm wrong, i think he's the oldest player in the tournament.. he just turned 52 last aug 26...
