5 doctors to pay P450 M more in taxes

FIVE Manila doctors have agreed to amend their tax declarations and pay additional taxes amounting to at least P450 million.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue said the doctors’ positive act to cooperate with its effort to raise money for the government came barely a month after the bureau held tax briefings for medical practitioners from the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital last June 29.

According to BIR officials who refused to name the taxpayers, the doctors filed their amended returns for 2000 to 2004 last July 8. The returns reflected substantial increases in their income tax payments.

The doctors also made an assurance that they would continue to support the bureau’s tax programs.

The BIR commended the doctor’s “laudable act” of voluntary compliance and for setting a good example among their colleagues in the medical profession.

... I couldn't imagine how much each doctor have earned in a year....

Those doctors might be popular surgeons or hospital board members, and are therefore the exception rather than the rule. She couldn't make in five years what one of those doctors pays in taxes for one year... and yes, we pay our taxes promptly and correctly.

Is that for real? P450M for the 5 doctors? That is P90M a year or P750,000 a month. Whooah! Baka naman P45M for the 5 doctors. It's unbelievable na mag de-declare ng tama mga iyon. just kidding....

P450M for the 5 doctors, which is P90M for each of the doctors. around P18M per year.

baka naman after paying this amended tax return, magdeclare na sila ng retirement para zero tax na ang babayaran for the rest of their lives while still doing consultancy in major hospitals.

i agree. my wife and i are both physicians and i don't think posible ang taxes na yan. at 450M/5 years/5doctors that's about 18M a year in taxes. i asked my accountant friend and he said for you to have 18M in taxes (a year), your yearly gross income should be about 51.4M. imposible

Remember Al Capone?
