There's a Meralco app, pede ka mag report ng brown out dun. No need to call. Also a graph of my monthly bills for the last 13 months.

Bahay ng parents ko naka-PLDT landline and Globe DSL before. Sabay nagfiber yung dalawa so may dalawang modem na sya. Yung isa pang landline lang.

Last Feb din when we went to Baguio via Jut's Tuba-Asin road there were crews setting up fiber along the way. They're that aggressive.

DSL separate ang phone line. VDSL IIRC via IP na rin ang phone calls so kung brownout no landline din.

And mas prone nga to nakaw ang copper cables. Last time nangyari samin nagsimula ang putol sa tapat ng bintana namin all the way to the guardhouse which is around a 100 meters away. Ewan ko lang kung bakit walang nakapansin.

Just keep sending complaints until maresolve. You are entitled to a rebate naman for the service not provided.

In my case, Globe automatically rebates the days when my internet is down. One time, nasa labas ako at sila pa mismo ang tumawag sakin informing me na wala daw kami connection nung time na yun. Magpapadala daw sila ng tech para macheck. Kinabukasan naman dumating din yung tech.

Secure brand 3000VA that I got from PC Express.

Haven't had the chance to test exactly how long it lasts, but so far hindi pa naman nauubusan even for hour-long outages. I added my PC to it and run extensions going to the fiber ONU and access points.
It's super heavy, I think it has six of the 12V 9Ah battery modules you typically see in a 500VA UPS.

IIRC UPS usually provide 5 mins backup time at their rated load, so backup times should be something like:

    2500W - 5 mins [max load]
    200W - 62 mins (1h:02m) [moderate load i.e. light gaming including PC]
    95W - 131 mins (2h:11m) [light load i.e. browsing including PC]
60W - 208 mins (3h:28m) [monitor off, PC almost idle just to run background tasks]
15W - 833 mins (13h:53m) [modem and access points only]

In practice the fiber modem by itself uses 7W or less. I saw a youtube video where a guy ran the modem for over 24 hours using a 40Ah car battery. He monitored actual energy use and it only drew 0.6A at 12V, consuming about 15Ah total over 24 hours so his 40Ah car battery will weather even a 48 hour blackout.

Thank you for the detailed explanation and the brand. I think I would need ups too when when typhoon season comes.

Just in case there's a power interruption, I bought this USB cable for my modem and mesh router then connect it to powerbank. I only used it once since I bought it, bihira mag brownout, and my 20000 mAh powerbank lasted 2 hours then nagka power na ulit. img_20220621_093132.jpg

I promise it's a lot heavier than that. I measured it on a bathroom scale the weight is 22.6lbs, about 10.25kg. Baka copy-paste from a different model yung 5kg. That would be about right for a 1500VA unit.

Meron din ako nung replacement battery units for a UPS. A single battery unit is 4.2lbs or about 1.9kg. By weight that's five batteries inside assuming minimal increase for the electronics and casing. Not quite the six units I was initially thinking, but makes more sense since a single 650VA unit uses one standard UPS battery.

Here's a picture of the UPS with a single standard battery unit on top for scale:

Wow, 10 kilos. I thought I would just go to a pc express in a mall and walk out carrying one. Seems like kailangan ng trolley papunta sa parking lot.

Globe has new speeds for their plans. Ang gusto ko sa globe hindi naiiwan yung mga old subscribers, pati ako na upgrade from 100 mbps to 200 mbps. screenshot_20220716-003432.jpg

Yup. Kakaupgrade ko lang to 200mbps 2 months ago then when I happened to check my account details last week gulat ako 350mbps na without any notification. Confirmed naman via speedtest.

Bad trip itong Royal cable, they came up with new plans which is 200/month cheaper with upgraded speed, free WiFi mesh and no installation fee. I wanted to migrate para at least makabawas ako sa monthly bill kahit wala ng freebies at nagbayad ako ng napakamahal na installation fee. Pwede naman but reset lock in for another 2 years, well, ok na rin sana, kaso gusto mag change plan fee pa ako ng 1000 kesos. The ultimate in greed.

[emoji52]
