San mo ba gagamitin? Will you be using it for just home videos, o plano mo bang rumaket as videographer sa mga events?

Honga, saan mo balak gamitin? Mostly for family gatherings/events/activities and out of town trips lang ba? Balak mo ba sumaydlan as videographer? How much is your budget? DVD format ba gusto mo, fafy - or Hi8 pa din? Betamax ba?

Ah, may sub-choices ka pa dyan. On the one hand, mura na lang ang mga Mini DV cams ngayon, due to the emergence of DVD and hard disk camcorders. On the other hand, iba pa rin syempre yung digital format, especially pag 3CCD na. Medyo mahal nga lang yata yung storage media (magkano na ba ang isang DV tape compared to a DVD-R or SD card?).

If you plan to shoot in low-light situations, you can go for either a camcorder with a built-in light, or one with infrared (such as Sony's NightShot feature) kung gusto mo ng medyo patago [halimbawa, gusto mong i-blackmail yung kapitbahay mong palikero ].

One of the most important considerations din is battery life. Dyahe naman kung sa kalagitnaan ng memorable moment niyo, bigla na lang magfa-flash yung low battery icon sa screen, kahit wala pang isang oras yung kuha mo. Tsaka maganda din yung mabilis ang start-up time, in case you want to shoot something/someone in an instant.

Kung balak mo ding ipa-edit yung videos mo, better get a camcorder with an IEEE 1394 interface (FireWire or i.Link), for faster video transfer to your computer. Pero karamihan yata sa mga camera na may ganitong feature, hindi pa kasama yung cable.
