When talking about flagship phones in the last few years, most no longer have an SD card slot. They now have non-removable storage with sizes ranging between 256GB to 1TB. You can't just pop out the memory card and move it to the new phone. The contents needs to be copied through USB or over WiFi and the transfer time will depend on how much data is involved.

I don't know exactly why it takes longer to copy stuff phone-to-phone compared to copying files off say, a hard disk. But I believe that the Android file structure, integration, and some other hocus pocus that Smart Switch does adds a bit of overhead in the transfer. In other words, Smart Switch copies all your existing apps and settings over to the new phone so everything is where they should be, literally. My home page is like what it was in my old phone, integrated with the new features of the target phone, and some apps are already logged in to my account and ready to use.

Videos and photos will be the biggest chunks to transfer followed by the apps. Just a year's worth of photos and videos will be around 150 GB more or less.

When I get a new phone, I save all the photos and videos of my old phone (I save it to a NAS + a cloud account) and just transfer the settings, apps, and documents on the new phone. Sayang din kasi space and newer phones typically take photos in larger and larger sizes owing to higher resolutions.

    __________

Using a USB-C to USB-C cable will be the quickest way to transfer files. A lot of people don't know this and opt for transferring over wifi which will take considerably longer.

Wala ba talaga option to automatically record phone calls sa Samsung Galaxy phones?

    if i have to guess,
according to one interpretation of the anti-wiretapping law,
it is illegal to record any conversation without the consent of all parties involved.

The call recording feature seems to be country-specific. The screengrab below shows two S24 Ultra. The one on the left is from the Dominican Republic while the one on the right is from the US.

My unit didn't match either units in the picture. I have "WiFi Calling" but I don't have "Real Time Text", for example.

Add app in Secure Folder, then sa Settings, Hide app in home and app screen.

Sa loob ng secured folder may play store, click the + button then "download from play store". You can install apps directly sa secured folder kahit hindi naka install sa main profile mo. Then just add shortcut from secured folder to your main profile para diretso na launch.

Yung extra sa icon, tawag dyan "badge". If you are using other launchers like nova launcher you can edit the icon and uncheck the "badge" checkmark.

^ What is your specific use case sa app lock?

Do you typically let your family or other people use your phone?

kung mamalasin, "once is all it will take."
buti na yung sigurado nang kaunti.
one will just have to explain it well to one's significant other, that is, kung magtanong.

I guess kailangan mo nga ng app lock. I understand na kanya-kanya lang yan.

In my case kasi, parang toothbrush ang mobile phone.... napaka personal. Kasi I know yung feeling na medyo intrusive and borderline violating kapag ibang tao may hawak. haha

I always have my phone with me, kahit saan ako magpunta. Kahit sa bahay, 99% of the time, nasa arm's length lang sa akin at unless ginagamit ko, naka-lock palagi.

OT and that is why I will never accept the excuse na busy when not replying for hours. People always have their phones beside them. Exception na driving or in a meeting na can't use it.

Looks like another ROM feature not available in our region. Other models have an option to turn off the shutter sound in the camera settings.

    i do not know now,
but in the early days of digital cameras,
manufacturers intentionally made their cameras shutter-sounding.
there were complaints regarding privacy, kasi. cameras shouldn't be made silent, so that the others may know when someone was taking pictures.
    heh heh.

also, models would rely on the shutter sound as some sort of feedback, during photo shoots.

    OT.

I think in the early days, they included the shutter sound simply as feedback since digital cameras didn't actually have a clunky shutter or a film advance motor which normally provides both haptic and audio feedback. It was added to digital cameras as an audio cue so that the user would know that the shutter was triggered successfully. I guess the feature stuck when phones started to inherit digital camera capabilities.

The shutter sound has now evolved to become a regulatory piece to afford a little bit more privacy. Regulatory compliance is regional and the feature to turn off the shutter sound is not specific for the PH. Though, I'll go out on a limb to say that our local laws don't have nor do they care for such policy, AFAIK. But because the variant sold in the PH is the "Global" version, the places this phone is marketed to likely included a country or countries that have "Anti-Secret Pervert" or equivalent privacy laws.

From research, I believe Japan and South Korea have camera shutter sounds enabled by law. The Global version of the S24 presumably included Japan as a target market so that's likely the reason it doesn't have a dedicated toggle switch.

I had a couple of Sony Xperia smartphones way back that allowed me to turn off the shutter sound. Though, one just needs to mute the System sounds to disable the shutter sound on the S24.
