Any audiophiles out there who can recommend a home AV receiver. Quality sound, connectivity and, of course, not so expensive.
Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo? or any respectable brand? specific model?

What kind of speakers are you powering? Floor standers, book shelf, etc....
It is always best to find a shop that allows customers to audition the equipment with their own speakers (customers'). You need to search for a "match" for your speakers, in the a/v receiver dept.
Brands you mentioned are winners, based on reviews I read from some magazines. Although one doesn't take the reviewers' word for it unless you have auditioned the receivers with your own speakes.
you can't go wrong with ONKYO paired with BOSE acoustimas. medyo pricey kase high-end pareho but worth your investment. pwede mo pa ipamana sa anak mo yan
that's my home theater set-up. ultimong kaluskos ng dahon at ligaw na bala dinig mo![]()
maganda Onkyo
mas mahal sa Pioneer
pero Pioneer is good if you're on a budget
but if sky's the limit, there's an AV receiver made by Arcam
^^ Arcam? Big time yan, pero grabe presyo........
Onkyo...pwede na. Get the 7.1 model.
Yung Yamaha, grabe merong bago, 11 channels, surround.
Also, those Lifestyle Bose models I think are overpriced..........![]()
I think this depends on the model. There are certain models who are more pricier and better performer than the other.Originally Posted by uls

Yes. Arcam is very good but quite expensive. I believe they are more within the professional high-end line.

All Bose are overpriced. They use very cheap materials.Originally Posted by chua_riwap

Thanks for all your initial inputs guys.
I live in the province but will have the opportunity to go to Manila this month. Any store you can recommend?
Wala pa rin akong speakers which I also need. Been considering the Bose but parang hindi ata "bang for the bucks" purchase. How about JBL?
yup, tama sila na overprice nga ang bose kahit na maganda yung sounds nya...
go for the other brand.
sights and sounds in shangrila.
i hear yamaha avrs paired with wharfedales is a good combo
yeah, sights and sounds shangri la, you can audition receivers and speakers there. if they still have the yamaha 663 get it. onkyo is ok too. denon is another good brand, worth checking out. finally harman kardon offers some pretty nice models.
about bose acoustimass, sad to say they're not worth your money. and about yamahas paired with wharfedales, yeah, they sound ok.
AVR: Harman Kardon / Yamaha
+
Speakers: Wharfedale / JBL speakers
Audition each and every configuration so you'll find what suits your ears. Bring a test cd/dvd so you'll have reference.

Good luck.
HK, Denon, Yamaha and Onkyo are very good brands. But whichever you prefer, make sure you get one with the ff: specs:
- HDMI repeater (not pass-through)
- DTS HD - Master Audio/DD TrueHD decoding capability
I'm also in the market for a new AV receiver. I've been eyeing the Onkyo 507, pero since napadami ang gastos ko the past few months, baka sa June na ko bumili.
harman kardon receiver + monitor audio speakers are very good combination for home theater set-up.

Thanks for all the input guys. I ended getting a NAD stereo power amplifier and Klipsch speakers. All bought at Spectra ParkSquare1.
Pina-audition ko and i like what i hear.
