    I've been a Globe user for over 10 years but have only started using emailing/browsing on my mobile phone.

    I just found out that Globe charges 15 cents per kb (or about 20pesos daw per minute). I also read somewhere that Smart charges only 20 pesos per 30 minutes with unlimited kb.

    Is there a better Globe deal for mobile internet usage? Cuz I find it weird that Globe doesn't compete with Smart and it might be a good reason enough to finally ditch Globe for Smart.

    Any comments/suggestions about mobile internet usage? Thanks!

    Smart user for quite some time now. Actually, sa Smart 3G, 10 pesos lang for every 30 minutes browsing. I use my cp as a modem sa laptop and ganun nga ang charges irregardless of kbs downloaded.

    Same with me. Before Smart charged per kb. But the charge now is P10/30 minutes. Actually, eto ang gamit ko ngayon with a speed of 115.2 kbps.

    Kahit saan pwede ka mag-internet basta may signal ang Smart. Very useful if you're mobile.

    am a globe user, corporate account, and two words.... it sucks!

    expensive to use it as a modem, erratic 3g signal etc....

    my wife's on addict/smart.

    nice for the 10php/30minutes surfing fee. 3g signal almost anywhere.

    sulit pag smart 3-g user ka, kahit prepaid.. 10pesos/30mins, pag madaling araw para kang naka-DSL din...3g-pocket PC/ PDA-phone users magbebebnifit ng malaki dito/ yung may lap-top+phone...

    globe, i only maintain my globe kasi sa Gcash and special # kasi, pero other than that, di ko ginagamit kahit WAP services!

    Sorry for the tech-impaired question, but when you use a 3G cellphone as a modem, can it still accept incoming calls? If the answer is yes, continuous ba yung flow ng data through the phone (e.g. you're downloading a large file) kahit may kausap ka?

    di lahat may 3g signal e.. you will know naman if there's 3g signal when:

    Nokia: the usual "antenna" icon or "G" for GPRS or "E" for EDGE turns to 3G

    Windows Mobile (PPC): Icons on the taskbar includes a "U" (Sometimes "G" for GPRS and "E" for Edge) Which means UMTS also known as 3G..

    Sun nga pala offers EDGE.. and sometimes i can connect even if i don't have load.. laging Text Unlimited lang ako pero nakaka-conect ako somehow.. don't know why..

    I also use Smart 3G.. i'm using it right now nga to post this..
    Connection: iMate JASJAR (Internet Sharing) + Windows Mobile Device Center Vista through USB Sync/Charge Cable..

    for Nokia: just install the PC Suite included.. it has preset Network Settings so easy connect lang (preferably through Data Cable para maganda transfer speed)

    usually sa probinsya walang 3g signal, when we went to the province last time, my wife's smart phone registered 3g signal in the ff location:

    metro manila = ok
    nlex = almost 80%
    pampanga = ok
    tarlac = ok
    urdaneta, pangasinan = ok
    bauang & san fernando, la union = ok
    vigan, ilocus sur = ok
    laoag & some parts of pagudpud, ilocos norte = ok

    Thanks for the info.

    Dito sa amin sa outskirts of Urdaneta City ok ang 3G signal ng Smart. Hindi ko pa sya nasubukan sa pag-surf kasi naka-DSL naman ako sa bahay.

    Nung umakyat kami sa Baguio last month ok din ang 3G signal based on the number of bars on my 6151, although in some areas hindi sya 3G.

    It is very obvious that Smart is a better alternative over Globe for internet browsing. Mura na rin kasi naman ang mga 3G-capable cellphones and the charge that Smart offers is very competitive vs. internet prepaid cards.

    I'm just wondering why Globe is not keen on competing here? Hmmm...

    maybe it's because Globe is offering HSDPA which requires more expensive equipment?
