    how do i report a lost cellphone to NTC? do i have to physically go there and fill up a form? how does the NTC know that i'm not just a prank who's just trying to piss off someone by reporting his/her phone was lost and claiming that it was mine?

    my mom just lost here cellphone this morning. she thinks she might have dropped it while riding a tricycle.

    i already called up globe to disconnect the number. but they can't block the cellphone since the unit was not bought from globe.

    Boybi, may hotline ang NTC AFAIK. Pero the usual process is you go to the NTC. You need to have two valid IDs with you and you need to have the original box of the phone with the IMEI sticker intact. The NTC would record your IMEI number, put it in their report. However, the NTC does not immediately block the unit. They still go through an "investigation and processing" phase - your stolen unit would only be blocked 10-15 days after the report. Filing the request is simple and quick. No fees needed.

    I don't think so kase nung nawala yung Samsung ni kumander ko, we asked Smart (her carrier) if they block phones na nawala pero hindi sa kanila ang line. AFAIR, sabi nila eh hindi daw. Basta daw na block na ng NTC, totally blocked na.

    AFAIK, ang iba-block lang ng mga telcos ay yung SIM but not the phone. kahit sa kanila mo pa binili or hindi..

    few things you need to have the phone's IMEI blocked;
    1. proof of identity.. valid ID's with picture
    2. proof of ownership.. receipt and/or orig box with IMEI sticker (photocopy will be submitted)
    3. police report

    this is to establish that you are the real owner of the phone. kasi baka phone ng ex mo yung pinapa-block mo.. hehe

    go to the nearest NTC office.. it takes time to block the phone (at least 2 weeks).. good thing is when the phone is recovered, you can have it unblocked..

    kahit naman ma block yang IMEI nang fone.. napapalitan yan sa greenhills.. mo unblock din.. so useless din talaga..

    that's why hindi natatapos ang nakawan ng phone di ba? kung majority ng nananakaw na phone ay actually na-blo-block at madali lang ang proceso, i don't think stealing cellphones would be that lucrative a trade for criminals.

    di ganun kadali palitan yung IMEI on newer phone models. you need to replace the whole board to do that, which is almost the price of a new phone..
