    tama po yun, the problem with laptops is hindi sya ganung ka-powerful (speed-wise and graphics-wise) compared with desktops,

    my dad has a 1-month old laptop (Asus A6000 ata) Pentium M 1.6Ghz Centrino with all of the latest technological stuff inside (I mean super hi-tech talaga: DVD writer 8x dual-layer, built-in mmc card reader, firewire, bluetooth, 5.1 dolby digital sound, etc.) worth 90000php (wala pang vidcard yun, built-in lang!)!! medyo on the go palagi kasi dad ko.

    my desktop pc is an Athlon 64 3000+ (Socket 939), with MSI K8N-Neo2 Platinum Mobo, Leadtek nVidia Geforce 6600GT, 2 Liteon 52x32x52x na CD writer, with all the other cool stuffs (Logitech MX-510 mouse, Logitech Access keyboard, 5.1 speakers(galing Quiapo!!) amounting to only less than 60000php!! it can play any latest games and video apps at a very high frame rate (Quake 4 anyone!!).

    it all depends on your lifestyle and type of work. if sa bahay ka lang nagtatrabaho (a licensed outsource programmer, architect, etc.) then go for the powerful desktop pc;
    pero if you are a businessman who usually goes out 12 hours 6 days a week then a mobile powerful notebook(laptop) ang dapat na bilihin mo. kung laptop go for asus or sony vaio ganda ng features and product quality nila!

    Doesn't have to be Centrino. Most of today's laptops have Wifi built into them, Centrino's just a marketing name for the Pentium M+Intel Wifi combo.

    Unless you're doing very highly specialised computing intensive work (3D modeling, video editing etc.), most of today's laptops are at par with desktops when it comes to power. I still prefer the desktop because it's very comfortable computing if you set it up right, i.e. desk, chair, monitor, keyboard, mouse, but the laptop's mobility can't be beat.

    It depends on your purposes, really. If you just need a computer, a desktop would be cheaper and a lot more comfortable, but a laptop's very convenient to have,

    the best solution is to have a powerful desktop PC to handle the games, heavy video editing duties etc. then get a reasonably priced laptop for your mobile needs. and remember notebooks depreciate very very fast, learned it the hard way when i sold my old compaq presario notebook for only 60k, got it bnew for 129k and used it for less than 2 yrs only. what a waste.

    btw, don't buy branded desktops (e.g. Compaq, Acer, HP, IBM, etc.)!! hindi kasi upgradeable ang mga branded na desktop pcs for future-proofing (like memory, hard-disk, vidcard, processor, mobo, etc.) at ang mahal pa sobra (imagine celeron or sempron lang processor pumapalo na ng 50000php+!!!). I suggest you go for the clones or yung "homemade" para lahat ng parts pwede i-upgrade! mas mura pa dehado!

    iba experience of playing the best pc games sa laptop. mas ok for me to play the games on a desktop bec of the great visuals and sounds. masarap kung maganda speakers mo tapos yanig bahay mo hehehehe

    ideally, i prefer a desktop for games, writing, etc. then a laptop when im on the go.

    sa panahon ngaun masarap lang mag-desktop kung monitor mo lcd 19" above with dvi.

    and regarding laptops, dont buy the one's with built-in video, kahit pa intel graphics pa yun. sayang ang laptop. and always buy the centrino ones to have longer battery.
