Electronics: is it possible to power a circuit with only one terminal as power source

is it possible to power an electronic circuit with only one terminal for power source? cause we had this project na electronic circuit and di gumana yung circuit namin my teacher said na i connect nalang yung positive and negative terminals ng battery (through a wire) dun sa isang terminal sa circuit. pero i find it weird kasi diba iinit yung battery pag ganun. ginawa ko nalang din, pero ayaw talaga hanggang pumayag nlang yung tr na isubmit namin kahit di gumaganda kasi maski sya naguluhan din daw sa diagram.

may nakalagay na +12V so does this mean na yung positive terminal lang ng battery and i kabit?

yung nasa taas doon mo ikakabit yung 12V battery na positive +, at yung nasa ibaba ng scr1 ayground, yan ay nilalagay sa casing as ground at doon din ang negative - .
