i suggest not to get anything lesser than 1hp
lower hp = longer cooling time
unless room is very small

Split type ba yan?
ok na ang 3/4hp for a 12SQM and below. you can also include tried and tested brands like kelvinator/condura.
Afaik, wala ng 3/4 HP ang mga local airconditioners ngayon.. 0.8HP na lahat ng current models.. you can also try Panasonic (former National)....
mga 1.5hp para mas mabilis lumamig at di masyado pwersado yung compressor kasi mabilis magt-turn off after ma-reach yung target temperature.
Yup yup, at least 1HP/ Yung bedroom namin less than 12 sqm, pero hindi talaga kayang palamigin ng 3/4 HP (Samsung), even when it was brand new
Meron akong LG Gold Fin .9 HP. Almost 5 years wala pang sira. Regular cleaning lan.
I have a Condura 3/4hp a/c in my room. Maliit lang naman room ko, about 16sq.mtrs. Ok naman sya. I've had that for about 7 years na yata. Can't remember na eh!![]()
I think it's okay, but be certain that the size of your room fits your A/C's capacity. Else, it will be overworked (higher duty cycle), which will translate to accelerated wear and tear on the unit.
I remember buying 1HP Kelvinator A/Cs a couple of years ago for P9,999 each. So far, the A/Cs are still running without any hitch.
Bottomline, you might want to consider buying a 1HP A/C if it is in the same ballpark price.

I highly recommend you buy a Panasonic. Panasonic makes great room A/C's. I have a National (Panasonic) which I use every single day that's 13 years old. Still very efficient and quiet. The worst A/C's are the 90's Carrier/Condura. I have one which I use sparingly. It is noisy and doesn't cool the room very well.
As for efficiency, mounting area must be high and be clear of objects which restrict air movement. Room must have good insulation and should have blinds/curtains to block off the sun. Also, have the A/C unit cleaned every 3-6 months depending on the usage and clean the filter once a month.
HTH

National/Panasonic aircons have 5yr warranty on their compressors. Sa iba yata 3yrs lang.
split type - transfer freon from evaporator unit (inside) to condenser (outside), dismantle the evaporator half then clean blower and evaporator itself using high pressure washer.
window type - remove whole unit from wall, remove cover and pressure wash evaporator fins and condenser, also the blower if necessary.
