suggestions naman. we've accumulated quite a number of them here in the office, pero di namin madispose 'coz they do contain sensitive company data.

short of melting the darn things down, is there a way to really really make sure that the data is erased? would running them through a very strong magnet work?

you can use debug. just boot up to a command prompt with a disc containing debug.

*** This will destroy all data on the hard drive! No kidding! **

bro... if they contained sensitive data before... it is best if you still store them.

no matter how you electronically "format" the hard drive, data can still be recovered in one way or the other (it jus depends on the patience of the one doing it - hehe).

physically destroying the drives is the only way to do it.

I wonder how effective would a powerful rare earth magnet fare against hard drives?
