Generic LCD/LED TV, are they okay?

I am scouting for a LCD or LED TV, with at least 40" width and the generic LCD/LED TVs have attractive prices. I saw one which is already 40", 120hz, 1080p na around 23,000 but the brand is TCL, another somehow with similar features 21,000 but the brand is devant....are they good and would they last long?

Is it not that the branded ones also come from China, just like the generic ones?

LED TV and LCD TV are the same... LED TV uses LED lighting (back light) while LCD TV uses CCFL back light.. they are the same LCD TV the difference only is the back light used...

sa mga LCD / LED TV mas maganda yung mas mataas ang resolution tapos yung clear panel... sa mga generic brands maganda yung Avision and COBY... ang mga panels naman nyan gawa ng SHARP, SAMSUNG, LG, PHILIPS minsan kahit sony ang lcd tv yung panel nyan gawa ng ibang brand like sharp

generic pala TCL brand. meron ako CRT tv na TCL, 10 years din nagamit hehehe.

maganda pa itong samsung tv namin na ordinary tube type pero flat.

Thanks sa mga nagreply at sorry for naming TCL and Devant as "generic"...may be they are just lesser known brands...Anyway, additional question, what about "Smart TVs"- Samsung is leading the pack here I guess- would these lesser known brands also soon follow this trend?

Ask yourself if you will be able to maximize the potential of a Smart TV. If not, LCD or LED TV will do.

IMO, blame the cable signal and not the TV. If you watch a DVD or Blu-ray movie using their TV, you'll see the difference.

sony 32 inches KLV-32cx320 tag 17K lang sa SM.

ang ganda talaga ng picture quality. bili ka na lang ng nmt kasi konti lang ang supported nya na files.

wait for clearance sales, i was able to score a 40 inch panasonic plasma with 10K discount. ok naman yung picture kasi medyo last gen na model, parang katumbas lang din nung mga samsung na series 5.

I'm choosing between this two and need to buy this week. Hope you could help me out

1. LG 32LK450 - php 16k
2. Samsung LN32D550 Series 5 - php 21K

Both are 32", 1080p, Full HD

I'm already fixed on the samsung but the price of the LG is quite tempting. Not much into latest trends in gadgets since madali cla maluma

may issue ba mga LED/LCD na galing ibang bansa especially mga galing middle east? plano ko kasi mag uwi mura kasi dito pero feedback nung kasama ko need pa daw ng converter(from cable company) para lumabas yung colored picture black/white kasi nung di pa sya naka cable.

nakapag-uwi na ko ng 2 sir pero wala naman naging issue o problema. pero eto ang concern ko ngayon (o nating mga ofw), totoo ba na may tax na pag nag-uwi ng LCD/LED kahit 32" lang? umuwi kasi last april 12 byenan ko and may dala sya 32" LED, may counter na daw para sa mga may dalang tv tapos P2500 ang binayad niya. tapos nung nag-ask siya ng resibo e wala daw talaga resibo. paki-confirm na lang don sa mga may alam o naka-experience na. tia!
