    2) Changed desktops to laptops.
    3) Remote control fans. "1 remote to rule them all" So madaling magpatay ng fans tuwing naiiwan.
    4) No ACs, pero maraming fans sa bahay.

I always make sure external lights are always on during the night. I do not want to compromize house security just because I want to save electricity. For me, at least it helps to prevent thief from sneaking inside the house. Its my first line of security next to alarms and door locks

you forgot to mention don't use all your appliances simultaneously (ex. electric iron, microwave, washing machine etc..) instead of one at the time only.

yup, if and only if appliances in standby mode for 24/7 365 days. unplugging all the appliances could save your bills to buy UCC coffee at the year end. Hehe

BIo GAS powered generators... poultry and hog growers can save all their electricity cost...

medyo mahal nga lang biogas generators... yung 500kva or 400kw aabot ng 10M.. yung 150kva nasa 3.5m

pero still cheaper than solar powered...

Yup medyo maliit. Normally less than 2W.

hmm you *could* use motion-activated lights. Even if they get activated by the occassional cat or dog, makatipid ka din ng konti ^_^

i bought some solar powered lights from CDR King a few years back. In my mind i could install them at our front yard so they'd charged up during the day and turn on at night...but the batteries could only hold out 2-3 hours at best. The bundled BL-5C batteries felt very light, so maybe swapping in proper batteries could extend it somewhat.

nope it won't. Buy good quality male & female plugs (eagle, panasonic brands etc.). I'm sure plug manufacturers have already tested their products wear & tear 24/7 365 days before they will sell it to the consumers.

    Tipid tips.
Wag tatangalan ng yelo ang frezer ng ref. then make sure na laging may laman ang ref. Kasi pag walang makapitan ng lamig sa loob ng ref e pag bukas mo e labas yan lahat. Takbo nanaman ang ref mo. Kuryente nanaman yan.

Kindly clarify...

As you may know short cut text messages are not allowed in this forum as well as barok sentence. With all due respect if you can't express clearly in Tagalog you may say it either Bisaya, Ilonggo, english or whatever dialects you're comfortable. besides your tipid tip does not make any sense at all. again, with all due respect. pls explain it to me your tipid tip like I'm a 5 yrs old child? pwede!

Ha-ha!

    Nakaka-aliw itong si philsat.
Masilip nga yung ref namin kung may laman. Alam ko puro tubig e. :D

I also don't get the idea why would this unplugging a call of concern on electricity savings. It's only the small electronic sensor which is working such that when turned ON via remote, it adapt to the command. If that sensor consume any , it's only by cents, not a major consumption. On electric fans naman, though mechanical ang switch the circuit is not close so there won't be any electricity running thereby no consumption.

Philsat may be annoying with his penchant for using too much letter "i"s but his tip about freezers is actually valid.

Keep your fridge and freezer filled - bottles of tap water can fill empty space in the fridge, and you can fill empty space in the freezer with screwed up newspaper. Otherwise you're just cooling down air and making your fridge work much harder.

partly agree here, the current pass through in electric fan motor is totally cut off once the manual switch off button is pressed. But there are still some appliances consume a bit electricity in stand by mode. example stereo amplifiers etc.. or some appliances that produce heat at the back or bottom of the unit itself in stand by mode, it does a bit only

The advice is to unplug or turn off devices that are in standby mode. Newer devices consume less power now but before they used to consume more than 1W.

Standby power loss is quite significant.

    Now this I understand

And I thought a full refrigerator consumed more electricity.
