TV Patrol ran two separate reports on this issue already. according to them, they have been receiving alot of complaints lately about these sites....groupon, ensogo, etc.

we know that they really offer great buys. but do you trust them?

DTI has been involved already about this issue.

personally, i use it. have bought a few items and services thru these websites. and so far so good!!!!

    kayo? please share your thoughts......

sino daw mga nagcocomplain? mga costumer o mga tindahan?

  7. #7
consumers. usually travel packages. when they try using the coupon by calling the travel agencies, they can't get any confirmation. same with the flights.

some of the sites, nag close na daw.

how do these sites earn? eh ang mura mura talaga ng mga deals nila? my team in the office got coupons from groupon for florsheim shoes. we paid 2,800HKD. when we picked up the shoes, it was sold at almost 8,000HKD.

    groupon business model --

groupon sends customers to businesses and gets a cut from the businesses

groupon emails customers daily deals. when a certain number of customers sign up for the deal, the deal is on. when not enough customers sign up, there's no deal

businesses sacrifice profit margin believing Groupon deals will help them gain customers who would go back to them without going thru Groupon

but those deals only attract bargain hunters who won't go back until there's another deal

kaya sabi ko it's good for consumers and bad for businesses

they dont earn.. it's part of advertising.. hoping the customer will go back and avail of their products again even after the promo..

talagang palugi na yan.. usually nag offer sila 30% to 50% off.. tapos yung site gets 10% to 30% pa.. so wala na talaga natitira.. ok lang yung big business like hotels.. pero yung maliliit na nagsisimula pa lang na companies.. palugi talaga.. they're hoping lang na makilala yung company nila..

syempre there are businesses that are already struggling tapos may dadating na customer may dalang coupon

    bad trip diba?

the businesses will try to wiggle out of the coupon

tapos magcocomplain ang customer sa DTI

Exposure Lang talaga, as I've posted here before a friend of mine joined ensogo, automatic 50%. Discount from your regular price. Walang kita but alam naman ng mga merchants before they sign up eh..so walang problema, naka try na ako diyan yun tony Roma...but you need to read the fine print, parang yun sa akin bought 3 coupons worth 1k* pang regalo ko dapat nun Xmas sa unexpected visitor eh hinde kaagad na email sa akin yun confirmation so hinde ko nabigay ako na Lang gumamit, Kung gagamitin mo 2 coupons dapat Ang bill mo is 2.7k then pag 1 coupon dapat 1.5k Ang bill mo

That's the fault of the shop. They should have stated the limit for the number of coupons they were giving out.

The Ensogo model is nice. Defined limits and discounts. You can avail of some good deals. For small vendors, they're only earning above break-even, but that doesn't matter. If you don't have volume in the first place, you're not earning at all. This helps build business volume and is better exposure (and more cost-effective exposure) than taking out expensive advertisements in traditional media outlets. Because word of mouth > advertising anytime.

IMO, as a consumer, better take advantage of the deals these sites offer since they are really cheap.

As a businessman, it will depend on what product are you selling and you should consider this only as an advertising promotion for your product.

As for being effective for businesses.... well i still have doubts... A relative posted an ad with these online vouchers with their newly built hotel and resort. Im not sure if the results are significant....

yup, actually nasabihan ata siya nung groupon company na sa maliit na market lang muna ilalagay yung ad niya. pero parang the owner insist or something like that. ayun, hindi niya inexpect yung volume. hehe

    A shame.

For hotels or resorts, you really have to plan out your GC giveaways, and put specific delimitations on them so they don't bankrupt you... limits like "only during off-peak season" or "valid only with cash"... etcetera... you can release a whole lot of GCs and still turn a steady profit. Hell.. you can give a 30-40% discount and still turn a marginal profit that you make up with volume. But 50%? Unless you're hella overpriced in the first place, that's a no-go.

Ako mahilig ako sa mga ganyan. So far so good naman. Laking matitipid mo. However eto lang mga tips:

    1. Read the fine print. . .TWICE!!
    2. If you are booking for a trip/accomodation, call the resort muna and make the reservation first for the day you want before buying the coupon. Baka ang expectation mo that they could accomodate you on the days you want. That is always not the case.
    3. Research first about the vendor, location, and capabilities. Believe it or not, may mga places dyan na offer this kind of services pero pangit pala ang place, facilities or malayo masyado ang location.
    4. Pay thru secure methods.
    5. Have fun scrounging around for new and cheap deals. Treat yourself to a classy restaurant.
