    I tried copying a rather large 12gb file to a 16gb flash disk but Windows XP would not let me do the copy. Why is that?

    I am not sure but if I remember correctly, FAT32 has a file size limit of a few GB only.

    Try using reformating the drive using NTFS not FAT32.

    I agree. Most probably this is the case. I guess the FAT32 FS has file limitation of 4GB.

    Flash drives have their own file format right?
    If ever just split the file in 4gb sizes. Use Winzip or Winrar to split. Recombine na lng after.

Couldn't copy large file to flash disk
