Ako i have my 1992 4x2 Nissan Powerpickup and i can say nakakatipid ako sa diesel.
Ksi kayang kaya ng makina yung weight ng pickup ko
Im equiped w/ TD27TI (Change Engine)![]()

It Depends...as pointed above based on drivers mode...and as well as Road/traffic condition...if Hway...more on Overpowered; and if on City traffic condition..siempre sa underpowered...unless meron technology like the HEMI engine that could switch to min. number of cylinders in operation depending on power demand.
sa experience ko mas nkakatipid ako pg medyo overpowered oto ko. hindi ko n kse kelangan irev ng mataas engine pra umandar. pg underpowered makina ng oto, kelangan mo irev ng mataas to get the vehicle rolling. you end up burning more fuel just to get moving...
Yep....those were now in production for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge..Imbensyon ng mga Kano na mahilig sa MAX HP and TORQUE...they tend to maximize power gain by increasing engine displacement but still maintaining same gas consumption...in a nutshell...still a gas guzzler pa rin...but on the other hand if this new MDS HEMI engine were not developed then the gas will be much much more.
For further info on new HEMI engine.....search sa friendly google MDS HEMI engine.![]()
Same line ba kinukumpara?
Overpowered na.
It's better to have something & not need it, than need it & not have it.
Eto experience ko between a Merc C180 and Lexus IS200 both autos, mas matipid pa ng konti yong Lexus. City driving and same driving style. Masyadong underpowered kasi yong Merc dahil sa bigat ng body nito.
Under powered vehicles - Cheaper Running / Operating Cost, Lifecycle is shorter
Over powered vehicles - Running/ Operating Cost is higher, Lifecycle is longer.

As others have mentioned, a car that has more power than it needs can just waft along at a fraction of its total power band at much lower RPM compared to a car that's running higher RPM's due to less power for the same driving conditions.
Palagay ko nga kung pareho ng degree ng over or under powered-ness, mas makakatipid ng konti sa over powered, assuming you will use a lighter foot and not 'open her up'. Pero marami pang factors that will come into play like power-plant, weight, engine-efficiency, etc so it may be hard to tell just based on experience.
Based on owners' feedback, mas matipid yung mz3 2.0 because of better power to weight ratio. my 2.0 turbo galant gets the same if not better fuel economy compared to when i had an NA engine. plus you have the power when you need it![]()
Its all about power to weight ratio, but manufacturers quote is that almost 9 out of 10 smaller engined cars are more economical as compared to the same body and spec car with a bigger engine. And it depends on driving habits and condition. i know that a 98 E230 is more of a gas guzzler than the E240 with a V6 engine as according to manufacturer specs.
