McLaren were also present at the Spanish track, but this was yet another bad day for the team with their new car.
Driving the MP4-18A, Pedro de la Rosa could only set the fifth best time, two seconds off the pace. Alex Wurz, meanwhile, was even more unfortunate.
The Austrian, in the second MP4-18A, could only manage seven laps and failed to set a time.
