Randomly came up in my youtube recommendations. Really good look at the OG Filipino racers like Dodjie Laurel, Jojo Silvero etc.

    Fascinating documentary.

In those days sedan class racing was more interesting because cars had different engine / drivetrain configurations:
    - Front engine, front-wheel drive (Mini Cooper S)
    - Front engine, rear-wheel drive (Ford Escort, Toyota Corolla)
    - Rear engine, rear-wheel drive (VW Beetle, VW Dune Buggy)

    ---------------

    At 2:42 Hudson Hornet (left)

At 14:51 VW Sakbayan (left) . Probably a safety vehicle.

    At 18:54 Dune Buggy

At 18:57 Mini Cooper S with checkered flag

    At 19:11 More Dune Buggies

    ---------------

I wish the documentary gave more details about who won in which cars.

Davies Captures Manila Grand Prix | The New York Times

MANILA, July 26 (UPI)— Allan Davies of Britain took the lead going into the 21st lap and won the 84‐mile first Manila Grand Prix auto race today.

Driving a 1293 C.C. Mini Cooper S, the 33‐year‐old surveyor, who lives in Singapore, covered the 40‐lap race for modified stock cars in 1 hour 4 minutes 39.5 seconds.

Chito Monserrat's leading twin‐cam Ford Escort GT faltered going into the 21st lap because of transmission trouble and Davies took the flag with Hong Kong's Albert Poon, in a Ford Escort, hot on his wheels.

A well made documentary. Was happy to see the Alfa Romeo Spider. Thanks for the summary/highlights. I noticed that the copyright was 2013. About 12 years ago.
