Hamilton fastest in final Bahrain practice

British rookie Lewis Hamilton continued his sensational start to the Formula One season by posting the fastest time in final practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday. The 22-year-old McLaren driver pipped Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen by 0.006 of a second with the fastest lap of the weekend so far, 1:32.543, near the end of the session.
Raikkonen had been quickest throughout Friday and Ferrari will be chasing their fifth successive pole position in qualifying.
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone said the Briton had all the makings of "Formula One's next superstar".
"He's young, good-looking and talks to people," he said of Formula One's first black driver. "He is selling the business, 100 percent."
Hamilton's team mate, double world champion Fernando Alonso, was seventh fastest.
The Spaniard, who leads Raikkonen by two points after two races following last weekend's McLaren one-two in Malaysia, needed repairs to his car after a part of the overhead gantry in the McLaren garage fell on it during the night.
"There was some minor damage to a wing on Fernando's car which the team quickly repaired," a McLaren spokesperson said.
"The team will investigate the cause of the incident but are confident this will not happen again."

Disappointing race for DC,- he was making progress and then ......
FA was visibly struggling with his car....
Great overtaking maneuver by NH over the (struggling) FA

SO what's the biggest story in today's GP? BMW. Yah?

Who is the biggest loser? RENAULT. Yah? As usual, Flavio giving his driver the ultimatum to 'overtake or lose it' call. I'm amazed Fisi never took the sand in a desperation move.

Lover Boy Flavio still has fresh (humiliating) memories of Toyota's Trulli, Renault's at that time, overtaken by Barrichelo on the penultimate turn of the 2004(?) French(?) GP....

Wow... BMW-Sauber is surely gaining some momentum... Kudos to Dr. T for being patient last year and for keeping intact the efficient Sauber team!

Well it wasnt for lack of trying. He just didnt have the pace to overtake.

As for Massa? If his races are as uneventfull as that then he'll always be on First place! Excellent job, this time he didnt make any mistakes, just floored the throttle on the first turn and never looked back.

I think we should request to our kind mods that all current F1 threads (australia, malaysia and this, Bahrain) be merged under one title : F1 2007. It would create a lot of clutter creating a thread for every round (total of 17)..

just a humble suggestion

Tagal ng next race...yari sila sa home crowd ni FA!

Watching the post-race interview, langya nung si Kimi na nagsalita, at lost ako sa mga sinabi nya. Need to read it pa sa internet. Reminds me of Coach Freddie Roach, just had too much on that Sunday!
