While watching F1, saw A1 advertisement. Also the star sports commentator said A1 as F1s competitor.

i'd love to see a series that restricts aerodynamic aids, mandates manual gearboxes, tapos no restrictions on engines, suspensions, brakes, etc. hehe
para naman mas maging driver-oriented yung sport at mas may variety yung grid at mas exciting yung action.
iba pa yan sa pino-form ng mga auto manufacturers di ba? by 2008 naman ata yun.
I'd like to see more CART on TV... that one had it all, fast cars, loose aerodynamics, turbo-boost (drivers could either cruise or turn up the turbo ...900+ hp!... for overtaking) and more dynamic races, everyone within 0.5 seconds of each other, not spread out like F1, and last lap overtakes in many races.
Too bad they're still rebuilding, they were the one true F1 rival...![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
A1 cars only have 550 hp at most, but at least they're practically identical to each other, so it's more on driver skill then.
It is stated in the website that A-1 is the "Grand Prix of Nations" with 21 nations already represented.
Sana some local sports patron or corporation can buy a franchise and put up a Philippine team.
Since practically everything is identical - to limit cost among other reasons, maintaining a team and competing will not be as expensive as F1 and maybe within reach of Filipinos.
I was told that its one team per country only... Parang Olympics! Country versus country ang laban!
AFAIK... the major difference is that all teams get the same car (through a random draw). same engine & aero package.Originally Posted by mbt
As long as the downforce is low enough for overtaking, I think it'll be great.
CART was fun to watch (when they showed it here) because the aero is less effective than F1, and the turbo-charged engines can be trimmed for overtaking power for short periods, then dialled back down to save fuel.
The IRL (Indy Racing League) also started out as a "cheap" competition in the US, with 500hp engines and open cockpit racers, but costs always seem to go up when each team is allowed to develop their own aero package.
A1 will be interesting, but since it's a sealed-box (packaged car) series, I don't know if it'll receive the industry support that's vital for a racing series.

pano ba to? ilang car per team? 1 car per team lang? kasi parang ang dami kung 2 cars per team. imagine 42 cars sa track. hehehe. tapos change driver in the middle of the race?
Anong make ng cars kaya ang gagamitin dito? It was mentioned na its a level playing field so i assume na pareho mga equipments nila?
I heard alos that Christian Jones, from Christian Jones Motorsport, competeing in our local AF3 series will compete for Australian Team. Sana nga may opportunity na makasali mga pinoy dito!![]()
same cars but they will be allowed to tweak the gearboxes and some parts of the aerodynamics...at the end of the race, they have to leave all the things tapos may checklist ulit...
driver skills talaga itong larong ito...sana nga mabigyan ng opportunity ang Pinas since its more reachable for us to participate in A1...
astig..bnrazil pala nanalo...aus ang nangunguna for most of the race as far as i now...naunahandin pala siya
