GHOSTHUNTER- Why oh why a 944?

Because for the same or similiar performance you spend a WHOLE WHOLE LOT LESS for a 944! Even cheaper is the rough running audi powered 924 TURBO (1981 euro version) putting out 177bhp(when new).

Another reason is if your not a Porsche purist who doesnt require an air cooled rear engine and the classic PORSCHE 911 look.

And still another reason is if you are the minority who dont like the FAMOUS inverted bathtub look and prefer something closer to a berlinetta shape. I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder??

Obviously from a Porsche enthusiast like you, your posted answer would be taken as but natural. Having a Porsche at any cost would be worth the money spent on it.

If you want to spend a whole lot less for performance, there is always Japanese cars like Nissan, Toyota and Honda with their powerful engines and great handling without the expensive price tag.

If you would be talking about the 944 in europe, then it wouldn't be a problem. But in the Philippines, getting rare 944 parts would be prohibitive. So why spend so much money on a car that is almost 20 years old, even if it was a "sports car" back in the day when you have other options open.

If it was YOU spending the cash, go ahead BUT the fact is the threadstarter was asking advise if it would be a good idea to buy a 944 in japan and have it shipped to the Philippines.
