I'm more worried about the incoming administration's handling of this issue than China's. We can expect China to be stubborn. But the rest of the international community will stand by the arbitration ruling which will most probably be in our favor. This will put China in a tight spot, and adversely affect future dealings with other countries if they don't abide by the ruling.

What bugs me is that du30 has already said he will not abide by the arbitration ruling and prefers bilateral talks. Mayhaps the Chinese bankrolled someone's campaign?

the down payment was already paid in advance during the arroyo administration. it was arroyo who bankrolled du30's campaign to put yasay as foreign affairs secretary. then will divide the spoils.

To those who want to understand in depth this issue, here's the lengthy but definitive talk given by SC Associate Justice Carpio, the country's leading expert on the issue

So are they prepping Duterte's jetski now? Seems nobody really expects China to follow the ruling anyways, and he promised to ride a jetski and plant the PH flag there.

    Now what?

Yep for sure China will just shrug it off.

Eto ngang si Yasay nag alok na share/joint explaration na lang daw.

i read some tweets about the DFA warning Pinoys in China to prepare for any backlash. Police have also barricaded the PH embassy in China against possible protests.

"Our experts are studying the Award with the care and thoroughness that this significant arbitral outcome deserves. In the meantime, we call on those concerned to exercise restraint and sobriety," - Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr.
He have absolutely no clue what to do next.

Akala nyo pag ayos lang ng droga ang trabaho ng President ha. Tingnan natin ang galing ng admin na to ngayon. Remember he already accused US of importing terrorism to Middle East.

Hingi na lang sila ng train sa China.

This is the opening argument delivered by Secretary Albert del Rosario before the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, after which Paul S. Reichler was called on to the podium to present RP's case:

    https://www.un.int/philippines/state...se-arbitration

Secretary Del Rosario is one unheralded bureaucrat that dwarfs this Yasay who has no prior experience whatsover in diplomacy.
