hmmmm. i really don't know that there was such a law as this. i thought puro oral defamation lang.

suggestion lang sa mga admins/mods:

why don't we create a separate area for all the laws and regulations that are in place? i am sure may mga lawyers din dito sa tsikot. that way madaling maghanap ng mga regulations on traffic, criminal laws, civic laws, labor laws or administrative laws and orders.

The Civil Code says in Chapter 2 on Human Relations:

Art. 26. Every person shall respect the dignity, personality, privacy and peace of mind of his neighbors and other persons. The following and similar acts, though they may not constitute a criminal offense, shall produce a cause of action for damages, prevention and other relief:

1. Prying into the privacy of another's residence:
2. Meddling with or disturbing the private life or family relations of another;
3. Intriguing to cause another to be alienated from his friends;
4. Vexing or humiliating another on account of his religious beliefs, lowly station in life, place of birth, physical defect, or other personal condition.

I suppose this is the legal basis of the internal code of conduct we observe in Tsikot.com, which prohibits prejudging, insulting, or humiliating the person of a fellow Tsikoteer. Deliberate attacks on religious beliefs are also prohibited. Attacking an entire Church is a sweeping assault on a significant chunk of population, and is incendiary. So, kwidaw!

The story is different for elected public officials, of course. But how would you know if a Tsikoteer is in public office? You wouldn't, and you can't in any way use this anonymous forum to attack him/her.

IMHO, the crass statements and actuations of showbiz personalities and programs has so deteriorated because of "ignorance of the law". It's a good thing may mga taong marunong ipaglaban ang likas na karangalan nila. Ignorantia legis neminem excusat.

I agree with 1D4LV. We might need a legal section (maybe a sticky thread) on basic laws only - mainly the Constitution, Civil, Penal, and Traffic codes. The rest can be found elsewhere in the web. If understood and lived well, Just Laws have the great potential of uniting people with diverse beliefs and persuasions.

Let's just hope that if anyone has objections or reservations about existing laws, they should take it up with their Representatives, and not gripe about it in the Tsikot.com forums.
