Why do I get the feeling that "flip-flopped" purposely to kill the impeachment initiative in Congress? Wednesday na yung plenary session ng House, parang ginawa ni Gloria government holiday para hindi makakuha ng mas maraming signatures yung opposition, di kaya?

I doubt she suddenly made it into a holiday because of "tourism" (kung ganyan e di dapat matagal na niyang dineclare; alam naman niyang aangal yung businesses sa last-minute declaration), and the suggestion of secretary sto. tomas that schools were asking for a holiday to commemorate national heroes day is absolutely preposterous, for the simple reason that this holiday has ALWAYS been celebrated on the last SUNDAY of august (at syempre, wala namang pasok pag linggo).

alam niyang aangal yung mga businesses sa last minute, yet it seems that she thought that was an acceptable risk... compared to a successful impeachment bid perhaps?

You get that feeling because deep inside you, you are anti-GMA.

The fact is, if you will check the news reports sa Inquirer, the opposition took this opportunity that the government is on a holiday so that they can make the rounds among their colleagues in Congress and make their last-minute negotiations to gather more votes to meet their target of 79 signatures.

It benefited both parties the same way.

malakas yung putak ni GMA na "she welcomes impeachment... proper forum blah blah" pero (kung susundan yung mga report sa dyaryo) hayup naman rumatsada behind the scenes para patayin yung impeachment (irregardless of whether the impeachment complaint is weak or strong or whatever) initiative (or at least, that's what it looks like):

- calling and "talking" with lots of congressmen/women and even their family members?
- releasing billions from the road users' tax to congressmen?
- if im not mistaken, restoring the pork barrel that she proudly proclaimed abolished before?

Not really. It's just that I don't really find any significant strategic moves in the political atmosphere to say that the declaration of holiday today is anywhere related to the impeachment activities.

Come to think that it has been a government policy since the beginning of the Arroyo admin to declare the working day next to a holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday - as a non-working day.

Again, look at the bright side palagi guys and not dwell on the negative.
