PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III on Friday continued to criticize Prisco Nilo two months after firing him from the weather bureau for providing him with a wrong weather forecast.
In a speech at the Presidential Lingkod Bayan awarding ceremony, Mr. Aquino blamed the media for pitting him against a certain agency, and then explained that he was specifically talking about Nilo, whom he fired in early August for providing him with the wrong forecast on the path of typhoon Basyang’s in July.
“When I was castigating their agency, what was being played up was a lack of equipment, which is not the case,” he said.
“It is not arguable that we have a lot better equipment than what existed in World War II or even in the Korean War, and they were able to predict the weather properly back then.”
The President again criticized Nilo for not owning up to his mistakes during his watch.
“He kept blaming other factors for the failure,” Mr. Aquino said.
The President has been mentioning Nilo’s case in several speeches even though the official has been sacked.
During his First 100 Days report, Mr. Aquino cited the improvements at the weather bureau since Nilo was relieved and counted this among his administration’s achievements.
“Our people are better prepared, and all it took was to replace one individual who believes he is God’s gift to Filipinos,” the President said, referring to Nilo during an economic briefing at the Palace last month.
Earlier, he ordered the state weather bureau to start issuing hourly signals after storm Signal No. 1 had been declared.
The bureau used to issue bulletins every six hours under Nilo, who was replaced by Science Undersecretary Graciano Yumul. Joyce Pangco Pañares
Grabe naman to si Abnoy. Personal na yata galit nya pero yung boyfriend nya na si Puno ay tudo depensa nya.Last edited by ghosthunter; October 18th, 2010 at 06:02 PM.

The partiality between how he dealt with Puno and Nilo is making me lose trust in our President.
I really thought he would be doing some cleaning within the ranks. Yet all his friends are now in high places. Palakasan parin pala. Padrino system is more rampant than ever.

malaki galit ni pnoy kay prisco ha...
palagay ko sinagot sya ng pabalang-balang sa cabinet meeting, napikon si prezident.
prisco got what's coming. simple. you cannot ignore the president when he demands an explanation. you cannot blame others, as well. medyo masyado pagka-self confident ni prisco dati nung napanood ko sya sa ANC yata nun. he does act as if he's the smartest of them all.
