With the kind of public people we have who are more more busy looking after their own self-interests than the general good of the people, it is doubtful.

We would have better chance getting someone to drop an nuclear bomb right in the middle of metro manila.

India is rich in history and in culture which they can be really proud of. And they have great personalities like M. Ghandi and Mother Theresa to emulate. Tayo meron ding 'heroes' and their relatives & grand children are still in the government. As to our Culture, it's close to extinction because of colonial mentality.

What Filipinos really need is a Moral Revolution from the Top Leadership down to the masses. Kasi, if we will look at majority of our aspiring leaders, parang laging may hidden agenda na to enrich themselves first and their clans to the next generations. It seems that TRUTH is a commodity that can be bought by money or force. Governance is PUBLIC service, public trust and moral responsibility; but it seems otherwise to the people sitting in the government.

I suggest that this Video be shown to all patriotic Filipinos who desire CHANGE. But I doubt any media company will be willing to show it unless there will be monetary gain from it. Kasi nga, the priority is always SARILI muna bago ang iba.

Going back to the question, Filipinos are capable if they go back to the basic moral virtues like honesty, live by the golden rule and loving thy neighbor.

India vs. India is a good eye-opener for those who can understand the true implications of such a campaign. but for how long can it last? the vs. is a very dangerous word. it's the same thing as when Moral Revolution is used, give it time and the world "revolution" is the only thing that will matter.

the answer is very simple. there should be Change but change can't happen overnight nor even in a decade nor in a half-a-century. it's a continuous trial and error process. that's why patience is also called a virtue.

    ===

it's very easy to spot those who really clamor for genuine change. they dont blame or put the blame on others. start with blaming/comparing, and the idea, no matter how good the intentions are, will pop like a bomb.

    Words from Rizal:

“Alas! The whole misfortune of the present Filipinos consists in that they have become only half-way brutes. The Filipino is convinced that to get happiness it is necessary for him to lay aside his dignity as a rational creature, to attend mass, to believe what is told him…without aspiring anything…without protesting against any injustice…any insult… that is, not to have heart, brain, or spirit; a creature with arms and a purse of gold. . . there's the ideal native!.”(The Indolence of the Filipinos by José Rizal, 1890)

Kaya natin yan. It'll just take time to find our own identity. We are a young democracy.

sabi dun sa youtube video ng narrator

India is a nation of philosophers. so since katulad sila ng Greeks na ancient culture, malamang nga madami silang modern day philosophers. and the narrator is saying na mas nakakasama pa pala yun kasi instead of acting/doing puro "philosophing"

hindi pala tayo nagkakalayo sa India kaya pareho tayong 3rd World.

we are also a "nation of pilosopos". lahat may katwiran, lahat may sagot, lahat may interpretation, lahat may say sa lahat ng issue lalong lalo na mga tiga- media. dito sa'tin the media is obliged to give opinions kahit iisang page lang ang opinion section ng dyaryo. ang alam ko kasi responsible journalism is to report the news without bias and let the people decide kung anong opinion. tama nga yun sabi ng iba, the tagalog is just a very harsh language. dapat ibalik sa english ang news reporting para ba maging finess.

no wonder, hindi nga tayo uunlad.

India's economic turnaround is fairly recent and quite modest compared to the sustained growth of China. And India's was largely due to the appointment of a non-politician as prime minister (and the first from a religious minority). Just one act of political statemanship converted India from a basket case to one of the stars of the emerging market. They were worse off than us five years ago.

Was it a Singaporean who recently remarked that if the Philippine economy can grow at 7.2 % at present splintered socio political condition how much more can we go if we get our act together.

That is why Pinoys should not despair but must prepare for 2010 and choose our leaders wisely.

Is the Philippines capable of this?
