Palace not aware of arrangements of VIP treatment for GMA

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang yesterday said it was not aware of any special arrangements with former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her family to leave the country without passing through immigration.
STAR columnist Sara Soliven de Guzman wrote that the Arroyos flew to the United States last Wednesday night without passing through immigration.
Citing information from sources, de Guzman said the Arroyos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 around 6 p.m. in three cars. The convoy entered the VIP tarmac where they were held for 30 minutes for clearing.
Soliven de Guzman wrote that Arroyo supposedly left for a speaking engagement. The columnist, however, questioned the need to bring her whole family and bypass immigration. There were speculations that the Arroyos fled the country, fearing the charges that might be filed against them now that former Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez – an appointee and close ally of hers – had resigned.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the Arroyos were probably just “on vacation.” He also said the Palace does not have information on Arroyo’s itinerary or her supposed speaking engagement.
Lacierda said Arroyo was probably given the VIP treatment at the airport because she is a former president and now representative of Pampanga.

Siguro the major major wrong choice of GMA was her reelection last 2004, she decided not to run but things went worse when she ran.

    FPGMA out of the country?

The rumor mongering mill went on high gear after last Friday’s resignation of Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez with insinuations that former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (FPGMA) fled the country mid last week. Former Philippine STAR columnist Nelson Navarro reported to us that he was at the airport the other day wherein several witnesses told him that FPGMA hastily left the country with her grandchildren last Wednesday.

Spy Bits checked with some close associates of the Arroyo family and we were told that the Pampanga representative has indeed left but for no other reason than she had to fulfill several speaking engagements in the United States, where according to a San Francisco resident, she will also spend some downtime with friends and family before Congress opens again.

A lawyer friend of Mrs. Arroyo added that she is “not stupid” to be running away from any legal suits that are expected to crop up – knowing fully well she has nowhere to hide.

dapat yariin talaga BID, it's not normal na diretso sa tarmac, kaya nga meron silang courtesy lane eh para sa mga VIP. dapat dumaan sila doon.
