In case it is first in the history having a black president.
Isip siguro ng mga democrats eh mas ok na yung black kaysa woman.
hhhm maraming phil-am na gusto si hilary.
ano ba kaya.. may laban ba ang democrats ngayon nyan?

i for one dont agree na magkarun ng Black President or Woman President ang most powerful nation in the world. that will only invite a power vacuum
based on the thread title it is always an advantage to any political party to have one of their member as President...no doubt about that...
I think the right question should be would it be advantageous to the democrat to have the first African American Presidential nominee...
I think malakas ngayon si Obama dahil parang marami pang sumasakay sa bandwagon na baka mag karoon ng first AFrican-American President and dikit ang laban nila ni Hilary Clinton which by the way, was also running for history to be the first woman President of America. so exciting, masaya, bago sa panlasa, etc...
parang feeling ko marami lang gustong makisama sa making ng historic feat...
but tingin ko come November sa general election baka si John McCain pa rin ang manalo...when all the excitement dies down siguro hinde pa rin ready ang US to have the first black American President...
another thing I see that might make Obama's presidential ambition bleak would be the die hard Clinton voters, white women working class...
Having an African-American president is one thing. But, Obama isn't the choice I'd want. Too bad Colin Powell didn't want to get into politics. If there's an African-American I'd vote for, it's Colin Powell. I'd vote for him even if he ran as a Democrat.

I am sure the Republicans will ride on their being conservative and McCain, being a true-blooded war hero.... (His plane, and he was in it, was the one who was accidentally shot by another plane while sitting on the flight deck of the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War campaign....)...

Yes, you're right bro. That was another major event in his life.
However, what stuck in my mind was how they described the heroes of the USS Forrestal,- "They never begged for mercy. They never whined. They never whimpered. They were sailors to the end..."

for the democrats it was... first black or first woman president.. jun aka pekto is right... it should be colin powell or condi rice for me if you want both first in the history.
The odd thing is both of the latter two would most likely run as Republicans.
It'd be the irony of ironies if one of those two ended up as the first non-white president.
Seeing what Mccain has done for Arizona, I'm solidly in his camp. He's also a moderate Republican which means he can work and compromise with Democrats if needed be. Obama strikes me as too far to the left much like Bush Jr. is too far to the right.
We'll see. If Obama wins. I'll give him a chance. It was the same with Clinton back in the 90's. He was a question mark to me during his first term. But, he proved to be a sound president. So I voted for him in 1996.
With Hillary out, my wife's a bit pissed. Oh well. It sucks to be her. He He![]()
So what's the story behind Obama not showing respect for the American flag during a national anthem, as seen in this photo --> http://www.time.com/time/photogaller...446035,00.html
I'm hoping that was a candid shot and unintentional on his part.
He's entitled to his views. But what happens if he becomes president and people do as he did in that picture? That'll come back to haunt him later on.
He should know better. As one running for public office, he's held to a higher standard and is accountable for his actions.
It's kinda like being parents. You're constantly setting the example for your kids because "monkey see, monkey do".
Add: Anyway, if that was intentional on his part, it shows a lack of maturity. To me, he lost even more brownie points.
