    MANILA, Philippines - Don't call him Noynoy anymore. President-elect Benigno S. Aquino III is dropping his nickname for the still slightly informal moniker "P.Noy."

    In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN's Jing Castaņeda, Aquino said he likes his new nickname, which was first suggested by his sister, Kris.

    "Why P. Noy? It plays on Pinoy. It's a little bit less formal and it's something that would make me more accessible to people," he told ABS-CBN after his proclamation on Wednesday.

    He said he liked his mother's initials, PCCA (for President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino), when she was in office. He said his own initials, PBSA (President Benigno Servillano Aquino), "sounded too much like a school."

    Can't he just stick to NoyNoy?

    We had no problems with the "Erap", "Cory", "Gloria" and "FVR" nicknames naman AFAIK.

    heheh ayan na si kris. para namang di nya kilala mga pinoy. once she opens her mouth and suggest like that, she's inviting filipino habit of inventing "katawatawang" or "double meaning" nickname. bakit di na lang pabayaan ni kris kung ano man maging initial ng kapatid nya. yung lumalabas ditong post e for sure yan din ang usapan sa mga nakabasa ng sinabi ni kris na yan.
    baka mapadali ang alis ni kris sa bansa nyan.

    Una, Kris "suggested" to Noy2 to get Abunda for DOT. Now, she gave him the idea to change his nickname to a silly sounding one. Afterall, she did make a public pledge that she won't influence his brother's decisions...
