Congress approves Anti Cybercrime Bill HB 5808
    306 35share0 share341

So the House of Congress has finally passed their own version of the Anti-Cybercrime Bill (HB 5808) which is also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The bill includes online threats and online defamation as cybercrime offenses.

So aside from online intrusion, hacking or illegal use of network resources, online libel will also be part of this bill.

For online defamation, the penalty is a minimum of Php500,000 (and a maximum of Php1 million) penalty plus a prison term.

The Senate has their own version of the Anti Cybercrime Bill (Senate Bill 2796). Senator Angara also clarified the Senate Bill in contrast with the issues on SOPA and PIPA.

The Senate and Congress will be consolidating these two bills and eventually finalize them and pass it into a law upon the President’s approval.

So if some politico found something he didn't like on the internet (example, in a personal blog), he can sue and jail the person who wrote it....

    bad... bad... bad.

Yup. So if they catch you in someone else's network (illegally), there is a "law" that can either fine or jail you. Of course how can they actually catch you is another thing altogether.

The problem here is the law is too broad as that it will also cross into free-speech or freedom of expression.

I would. That is if he/she can even get into my network.

    And that's a big IF.

Depends too if you are logging the network activity. If you are logging it, the chances of catching an intruder is much higher since there will be a permanent copy somewhere.

That might be the future BUT there are always loopholes. Like having your site hosted OUTSIDE the country, especially in a country with a much better personal privacy laws.

Yes, if someone was monitoring the connections on the DHCP server of the router (or if the router/server was logging it somewhere). You can catch the computer's name and machine number as well as the time when they (tried to) connect. Such information can be used to identify a specific computer.

So far, none yet since *******s is a different "animal" to simple copyright infringements becase the ******* list host does not really have a copy of the actual file being copied.

    tsikoteers

Nasa news ngayon about nakakatanggap ng text scam kasi paano daw nalaman cellphone #.

Ako nararanasan ko lang yan sa shopee lazada pero sa # ko na intended lang doon. Iba pa tunay ko sim. Syempre advance ako advice by pinoytophacker.

Hangang ngayon wala pa din ako credit card. Yung atm nagkaroon ako year 2009 ata tapos less than a year pinagupit ko. Maybe ngayon year mag-apply ako for online purchase pero may hesitation pa.

So kita nyo ngayon pandemic litaw na litaw pinagkahandaan ko.

It's so weird how you're so proud about not having a CC, that's like telling the world you're not yet an adult. Teen agers nga may extension cards, that's one of the first things I begged my parents to give me.

Most transactions now are done via CC. How could you even travel if you don't have a CC? Then when you treat people at a resto mag cash ka? (or because you never treat people out?)

No offense but I would be so turned off with a guy na walang CC? It's just one of the first things you have as an adult. Saka isipin mo bakit walang card, kasi walang income? hehehe

It's only effective if they know to whom to serve the libel papers...
