Filipino to be executed in China today meets family

MANILA, Philippines –The 35-year old Filipino convicted for drug trafficking in China met members of his family around 9 a.m. (Manila Time) Thursday, at least two hours before his scheduled execution by lethal injection, reports reaching the Office of Vice President Jejomar Binay said.

The meeting took place in the city of Guilin in the Guangzxi Zhuang autonomous region, where the convicted drug mule was also read of his sentence, the report said.

After the promulgation of the sentence, the Filipino convict will be taken to another facility about a two-hour drive, for the execution, the report said.

The Philippines tried, but failed to convince the Chinese government to commute the death sentence of the Filipino national, who was convicted for smuggling 1.495 kilos of heroin on Sept. 13, 2008 at the Guilin International Airport.

Binay, who is also Presidential Adviser of Overseas Concerns, will make the official announcement on the execution via Skype as he is attending a conference in Bali, Indonesia, his office said.

This CRIMINAL is not an OFW but a VETERAN DRUG MULE. He deserves his PUNISHMENT. It will help discourage other guillable pinoys from trying this.

Personally, he should be punished according to the law of the land where he committed the crime.

Pinoys should learn a lesson that there is a place for the death penalty in a society.

may drug mule din before I think ung si sally ordinaryo ba un? (correct me if im wrong). hindi na nga tayo natuto. but hindi rin natin sila masisisi sa hirap ng buhay natin sa pinas. kapit sa patalim kaya resort nila ang mga ganitong bagay, risky but easy money.

In the end, it was still their choice to do the crime to deal with drug trafficking.

If we can justify criminal acts because of poverty...

Just shows you that the PINOYS are their own worst enemies in promoting themselves and the country.

Marami siyang inuman na inis-sponsor? Galing no? In a way they're justifying to their children that it's okay to be a drug mule, basta marami kang natulungan.

If Binay is sincere in helping out, why did he just not volunteer to take the drug mule's place?
