post ni FRT from the other thread:

Alfred kaya pero hectic sked. Check below:

This IT is for people staying overnight at the Camps. Pero kung sa may Ranger station lang kayo puwede din. Might bring some fellow mountaineers and we will sleep at Camp 2 or 3.
May mga porters don kung gusto nyo mag dala nang backpacks.

    Possible Mt.Pulag Climb itinerary

    Day1 – Leave Manila 1pm after lunch

Arrive in Baguio 7pm. Spend overnight

Day2 – 4am – 10am (6 hrs.) drive to Ambangueg (jump off point for Mt. Pulag)

    10am to 11am – Register , eat lunch

    12 – 3 Start Trek up to Camp 2 or (+2 hours) Camp3 (Saddle)

    5pm – Set up camp (Camp3)

Day 3 – If from Camp2 : Wake up at 330am (quick bfast) then assault the peak .
    ETA 5am wait for sunrise

If from Camp 3: Wake up at 430, ETA at peak 5am.

Stay at the peak until 8am

    8 am to 12 – trek bak

    12 to 1 – Lunch

1pm to 7pm Drive back to baguio

    7pm – 8pm Quick Dinner

8pm – Drive back to Manila

Mt. Pulag conditions during hiking : Temp drops * 3pm. Becomes very cold. At 5pm
its very cold (feels like 5 to 6 deg.) Bonet gloves etc… the works! This was
    during end Jan.

This itinerary is very tight. Suggestions welcome.

Last Sunday during the DC.org EB, we've decided to hike from the range station to camp three which is about 30 mins to the peak (probably 45 for me). I have to admit that Tess and I will hire porters as we are not experienced climbers/hikers. We'll just have to carry our backpacks only during picture taking. During our discussions here are the things Bob "FRT" suggested:::

Our Bobcat tents will not do. The temp goes down to -2 degress brrrrr. Tents should be double lined.

Hood. Bonnet, preferably yun gamit ng Special Action Forces with only holes for the eye. (sa goon squad ako manghihiram nito)

NO sandal, unless you have a porter to carry you back. Hiking boots or rubber shoes with double or triple socks. I won't be removing them when I go to sleep.

No SMOKING!!! from the ranger station and back. NO camp fires.

Use only biodegradable soap ex. likas papaya, tawas (mayrun ba nito?)

Headlamps so your hands are free during the trek (ang mahal nito from 1,900 to 2,200 pero mayrun sa Concorde 500 lang), flashlights (extra batteries).

Gas lamps optional daw, though you can use this to warm your hands

Thermal jackets (hmmm...sino kaya mayroon nito?) thermal sheet (to protect you from the cold ground) Multi layer clothing, again I won't be removing these when I go to sleep.

FRT:::ikaw na maging leader ng group na ito.

I suggest we checkin in the new hotel besides Petron (yon may Pancake house sa side) We will be arriving around 10 pm Friday March 12

I have to go now. Mag gym muna ako ;)

To all that will be climbing MT.Pulag:
We need to get physically fit...seriously....the trail is not so hard and not so steep but it can really be exhausting. Its considered a level 3 climb (strenious) sa Hiker lingo. Plus off course the temperature. (single digits)

Nightrock : Are you bringing your kids? How old? PAre malamig doon.....sobrang lamig. The wind is like 50kph or more pa yata specially at Camp 3 which is called the "Saddle". The Camp Site is exposed to all elements, there will be no trees to sheild us kaya better take note of this.

    Wool Sweater (thin)
    Cotton Tshirt
    Jogging Pants (Nylon water repellant)
    Underwear
Socks (1 very thick, 1 thin)
Gloves (Baguio type lang pero mas ok kung wool or yung pang ski)

    Food:
    Dinner for Day 1 (Sandwich)
Bfast for Day 2 (Serial and 1 Tetrapack of Milk)
Light Trail Food : Nuts , Wammos, Jelly Ace
    Swiss Miss

    Others:
    Tootbrush and toothpaste
    Swiss Knife or similar
Light Aluminum Cup (for Hot drinks)
    Kovea LAMP + Gas Canister

Trash BAg - 2 pcs. folded

*I put a big plastic in my bag before puting items inside to water proof it. Puwede din trash bag pero manipis. Yung thick plastics can be bought in out door shops PArksquare and Galleria. Meron din sa basement nang Makati Cinema Square.

Target weight is around 25lbs. (sana mas magaan pa)

    Typical Jacket/Windbreaker

Pero meron local brands. JUst make sure its water proof or repelant with very good lining inside. Also dapat may hood.

Galleria has a lot of Outdoor shops (2nd flr near tobys ata)
    Megamall has habagat.

From experience * around 3pm ...cold and fog sets in. We start wearing our jackets.

    PAnts for trailing....

Pero meron local brands....check out bombproof gear in Galleria. I must say mahusay ang materials and workmanship. If you go there ask for trailing pants na convertible to shorts.

Hiiking shoes (Sample) I use Salomons pero lately di ako bilib. A lot of people say maganda Merell. There are a lot of brands. Just be sure its mid to high cut. Avoid Coleman (sorry tebs), medyo masama review pagdating sa thick mud (naiiwan sole). See also backpacker.com
