Family business in the province demands pick-up for its daily use. They used to drive around with a 4x2 Mitsu L200. But that truck has been put to the test numerous times already and is begging for a change, after all it has been driven since 1991. Logged 100,000kms. when it was just 6 years in service. Loaded 500kgs. every trip to Manila.

For a budget-wise small-medium scale business that frequents 500kms.++ travel to and from its destination, what would you choose?

    1) my pick is the dmax MT. i have a similar situation and concerns when we got ours. and i, the proprietor, drive the pickup.

it has the best combination of old but proven tech and new tech packaged in a good looking and strong body. very suited for Phils conditions and packed with new tech (for a pickup at least) to carry itself for at least 5 years.
old tech: non crdi engine but with turbo.intercooler; leaf springs,
    new tech: ECU, ABS+EBD, airbags

plus in stock form it has the tallest ride and the biggest tires. the roughly 30,000 higher price differrence is justified. in my opinion.

    2) for the daily use of the staff, my choice would be the hilux bare model. this white only variant is being used by MNTC and San Miguel Corp as their fleet vehicle.

    thanks

    Norkis Legacy?????? :bwahaha:

baka sa ranger trekker nalang ako. hilux would be my top pick (largest in class tsaka malaki din yung bed), pero mas magiging confident ako sa tibay ng old-school diesel hehe.

    isuzu NHR ayaw mo? hehe

Pareho kasi kayo ni Otep ng sabi pahabol yung Norkis kaya sinama ko na. :bwahaha:

Yun bang Nissan, Mitsu & Ford nasa below 1M ang price? Afaik, Isuzu & Toyota are above 1M kahit na enrty level 4x2 lang.

bosing bakit wala yung ford ranger XL ? 2.9 diesel engine. For me ayaw ko may turbo kasi kung hindi marunong gumamit at patay kaagad sira ang turbo. number 1 ford ranger XL. 2nd Nissan Frontier 2.7 std, 3rd Mitsu L200 GL

iiwas muna ako sa CRDI na makina sa ganyang workhorse truck, mahirap nang magkadowntime dahil sa fuel or electronic issues or whatever. hehe. pero superior talaga ang hilux at dmax compared to ranger, strada, and frontier.

    Toyota Hilux 4x2 J M/T : P748,000
    Toyota Hilux 4x2 E M/T : P928,000
    Isuzu D-Max 3.0 4x2 M/T : P960,000
Ford Ranger Trekker XLT 4x2 M/T (2.5 TDIc) : P896,000 (extended warranty is available)
    Nissan Frontier 4x2 Elite 2.7 M/T : P865,000
    Mitsubishi L200 Endeavor : P720,000

merong pang mas mababang variants yung frontier at ranger. yung L200, puro 4x4 na yung kasunod.

yung mga Isuzu Elf na 4-wheeler, 634,000 yung 2.8L at 760,000 yung 4.3L (cab and chassis only) hehehe

Walanjo ka talaga, Marv! Ipilit ba naman yung Elf lineups, para kang ahente ng trucks! :bwahaha:

johnart::: Meron pa ba nung entry level nilang 2.9L engine? Dagdag nyo lang po para ma-edit ko yung list.

badkuk::: I was just about to ask that variant too.

Driver, sya na rin mechanic kung may masira beyond warranty.

Isa rin iniisip ko delikado pa ang CRDi engine lalo na sa provinces. I'm not saying that it is not a reliable engine, pero ang techno know how ng mga mekaniko dun eh makaluma pa rin. I would doubt if they know how to fix turboed engines.

    Priorities:
    1. Comfort
    2. Reliability
    3. Max Payload
    4. Height advantage is a plus if available

as far as isuzuphil.com is concerned, parang on sale pa ang fuego.

ung IPV i'm sure on sale pa rin, though parang walang pickup variant.

regarding CRDi...won't the double fuel filter trick work in these cases?

standard fuego 4wd. turbo, mechanical injection, 4wd pa. yun lang manual lahat so walang masisira. hi-lux is ok pag 4wd but 2wd pang carga? hmmm 5 holes lang ang rims and the pattern is like the crv, xtrail and the like parang hindi pang heavy duty.

frontier isnt it thirsty sa fuel?

...this may be an odd choice...pero meron bang pickup variant ung L300? but i guess that would make sense if L300 parts are quite abundant sa probinsya. mukhang subok na rin kasi to e
