My commander's Kuya was originally getting a Picanto as his first car but I talked him out of it (no offense to Picanto owners). I just felt we could get a better deal.

After doing research on ex-JDM Pajeros, the project was deemed unfeasible within the set budget and downtime limits.

So here is what we ended up with:

It's a 1995 Suzuki Vitara with around 78k on the clock. Still wearing the original paint (not perfect but good enough) and was in a remarkably good condition considering the age. Also came with fresh tires and a battery was installed not too long ago.

There's not much to fix. The only big issue being a defective brake master cylinder and worn brake pads. Both of which have been addressed. There are also minor niggles (power mirrors don't work, a leak in the windshield washer hose, rear washer does not function, etc.). The suspension and interior are solid and rattle-free.

We are currently awaiting the nudge guard being fabricated for it.

    BlueBimmer,
Medyo mataas ang kuha namin at Php 280k. We just bit the bullet because this is the unit that required the least work. I found units selling for Php 240k but would require quite some cash and downtime to restore to the level of the unit we got.

It gets 7-9 km/L. Ok na din. There are plans for a mild lift and 235/75R15 muds but not anytime soon. Concentrate muna on the mechanicals and restoration and sa pag-iipon ng budget. hehehe.

I recently swapped out the pink pedals for silver and black ones para mas maganda naman ang hitsura. Also put in 'new' (they were the OEM's on my Besta) rear speakers because the pair installed was busted. Also had to get a jack (it was stolen at a carwash daw) and EWD. I'm still looking for jumper and tow cables for it (ang pangit ng mga nasa mall ngayon).
