    Welcome Trooper128!

A very simple yet effective way to increase 4d56 power is by implementing the famous wahser mod.

by just inserting a couple of washers to the turbo's wastegate actuator, you could significantly increase engine power and response. details to follow.

what he meant by rebuild was to rebuild the engine. to upgrade the turbo means to change it to a bigger and faster one. Doing this will incur a lot of changes. to much air without caution will blow up your engine. one way to make your engine "faster" is to make simple yet calculated mods. Mods like I/H/E could have significant gains for your engine. wheel and tire combo will also be a factor. There are a lot you can do to increase/imrpove the performance of your 4d56 engine.

    Read on:

    - Cranking up the boost on the 4D56TDIC

I'll just post the other washer mod threads when I find it, I knew PK posted a complete modification with pictures.

ungas, parang nawala na ata ang site na nag-host ng pics ni PK.

this is a very good and cheap mod. I have been using it for 4 months, solid.

i think i am one of the few who went to 4 washers. (or was it 3). basta whatever most of the guys did, i added one more, kasi medyo kampante ako coz i had a boost guage installed while putting the washer sets in.

How about increasing hte power of a 4d56 NA?

Are there any cheap way of doing it without bolting on a turbo and all that stuff?

maybe you could go the intake - headers - exhaust upgrade route?

i have tried this on gas engine cars, but not yet on my diesel

calcite::: Lucky you, there are many alternative ways. One that I could think of now is, oversized pistons, rings, sleeves to increase the displacement of 4D56 engines.

May use ba ang headers sa Diesel? I heard na it may have a negative effect daw. Any comments peeps?

notEworthy27: salamat sa clarifications. akala ko ay rebuild ng turbo...hehehehe...

Dieseler: if I remember correctly, DocDiesel mentioned in another thread that when the exhaust is modified incorrectly (masyadong malaking ang diameter pipes) torque will suffer...

    (opinion ko lang po)

don't oversize the pistons sa normally aspirated diesel engine. bababa ang compression ratio mo. you can only do that if you are installing a turbo to accomodate extra boost. sa gasoline engines, you can do that. it will accomodate more fuel and air to burn.
