I don't think there is really one BEST pick up out there. It's just a matter of finding one that fits your needs and wants.

The perfect pick-up truck for me might be the worst one for you...

In any case, I like Stradas and Frontiers among the compacts.

The fullsize trucks from GM and Ford are off my list until they get their quality issues straight.

among the compact pickups, the Isuzu D-Max seems to be head and shoulders above the Frontier (soon to be replaced) and the Strada. Ranger should be a close second. The Hilux trails all these trucks in many ways, but it is arguably the most reliable and the toughest of the compacts. The Hilux is also the easiest to modify and make into a truly trail-worthy truck, i believe (IFS notwithstanding).

sa full-size pickups naman, F-150 at Silverado 1500 lang naman yung pagpipilian hehe. F-150 has already been made obsolete by an all-new 2004 model.

First, wrong title to start with. The term "what's best etc..." creates a lot of confusion and personal choices. What if most of the people drive more than the other brand? Then you get a biased answer for your question.

Second, if you want the best bang for your money's sake. Read the individual vehicle specs first. Ask yourself what you need, interms of engine displacement, cabin size, gearings and other vital infos you need. Then ask the boards what's their personal view about each specific vehicle that you have chosen. Then you get the performance report, not the best pickup yet.

As we all know that the newer breed of diesel engines which are direct injected claims higher mileage than the older swirl type distribution. But, there's that word, how would they claim it to be true if their engines are only a few years old. Hence, the previous type will consume more because it was driven for thousands of kms. more.

ok, sori bossing! rookie driver lang ako kaya konti pa lang alam ko sa mga kotse..

so let me rephrase, "so what (in your opinion) is the best pick-up in the market?"

now why am i looking for a pick-up? i want something "good" to drive when im going to the provinces (baguio, tagaytay, etc.).. and when i say "good" i mean something that saves me money from fuel costs while giving sufficient driving comfort as well as being able to carry around loads of stuff w/o much problems.. oh by the way, it should at least be able to go offroad in case i want to take it to a mountain somewhere..

    so what's the pick-up for me? (",)

Now, this will cause you some problem with your 4x2 choice. Even if the pick-up you will choose would have standard LSD, which happens to be Nissan Frontier or Ford Ranger. You and the vehicle will have a hard time negotiating routes thru the offroad trail. Some rough road duties will just be a breeze.

If you want to save on fuel costs, get the larger engine. Which has more displacement; interms of torque and hp ratings (there are some exceptions). This will help you lighten your foot off the pedal when you want more grunt, negotiate overtaking easily and can handle the added load without having the engine to work that hard. Too bad, you can't get best of both worlds when it comes to fuel savings and driving comfort. Most pickups nowadays have Independent Front Suspension setups, which can be soft as a car-like ride. But the leaf springs at the rear still does have the stiffness that they're having a hard time spelling out c-o-m-f-o-r-t. Carrying load at the bed is the pick-up's pickup tag line. They primarily were made for hauling light-medium duties. Each brand will have it's own dimension.

fishballz::: To tell you frankly, it's hard to sell something which the buyer is not sure of. Parang bebentahan kita ng softdrinks, pero di mo pa alam kung ano ang gusto mong inumin. Who knows? Kakapilit kong bentahan ka ng softdrinks, mauwi ka pala sa mineral water, get my drift? :D
