    a pleasant day to all,

im just wornderin if there are aftermarket mufflers avaiable for diesel rides to make it sound beefier? better? i dunno how to describe this but na observe ko lang bakit ang trucks pag rinerev parang ganda ng sound coming from their mufflers, to think na theyre stock.

curious lang ako kasi ngayon ko lang nalaman na yung mga steering wheels na pang cars ay pwede rin sa suv, pick ups

aftermarket mufflers ng cars kaya? like 5zigen, nodalos, zebring, sportec ? :bald:

Halos pareho lang naman ang components ng mga trucks at cars lalo na sa accessories.

Pero yung 'big rig' sound hindi mo makukuha sa muffler lang. Minsan inherent talaga yung noise sa engine mismo like on Mazda 2.2's or Nissan TD42's. Yung kay Ungas parang bus na sa EDSA after he modified the pipings of his exhaust. hehehe.

ako nagpalit lang ng resonator na pang kotse. so exhaust ko freeflow. for that bigrig sound, transplant a v10 turbocharged 15 liter volvo engine

    mr. bubbles,
ano ba difference ng resonator na pang car sa Pick up / suv
freeflow? dba straight pipe yun from manifold - muffler
    wala na primary n secondary

ang resonator straight pipe lang. it's smaller than a freeflow muffler kasi it's only meant to support the muffler. yung galant namin may 2 resonator and one muffler. nung tinanggal ko yung isang resonator it was a bit louder.
most big diesels kasi can run quiet enough without mufflers. mga big trucks, freeflow mufflers yun. mas maingay ang 4cyl pajero pag naka freeflow kaysa ung truck.

Intake, headers, exhaust modifications can be done on diesels. pati port and polish and other tricks like turbos, intecoolers, etc. Hindi lang pwede yung mga may kinalaman sa ignition like spark plugs, MSD boxes, etc. dahil hindi naman electric ignition based ang diesel at wala siyang need for these components.

Most suspension and transmission mods na pang gasoline pwede din sa diesel. Stiff shocks, big brakes, at kung ano ano pa. Budget lang talaga ang limit.

Unlike a naturally-aspirated gas engine, a diesel engine does not need back-pressure for combustion chamber scavenging. Also, diesels run hotter rich than lean-- which is the opposite of a gas motor.

A large diameter straight-through free-flowing exhaust is what a diesel ideally needs. However, this is limited by what will fit and the amount of noise you can tolerate.

U.S. big-rigs run 5" twin-stack straight-through mufflers designed to only reduce noise but not add any back-pressure.

I'm going to check out the new exhaust set up of Ungas one of these days. Big rig sound daw, eh.

diesel piping & muffler mods: you can go see the famous Ernie (he of ClubMitsu) in Autoxer's R-Fusion Performance shop along E. Rodriguez. He specializes in custom piping and muffler. Autoxer has a mandrel bender there so you can be assured of high quality work.

After I finish with my BMW E36 project in R-Fusion, I'll have all the pipings and muffler of my Pajero customized by Ernie. He can also replace the shoddy OEM turbo/intercooler pipings of the pajero into a stainless/uprated piping system.

many turbo diesel engine cars here changed their mufflers to freemuff's sdg model, the one with the silencer at the tip shich you can get.

woodfire-one of the mods yan ng pajero and other intercooled turbo engines is to change the rubber hoses with tubes that does not collapse like rubber.

I changed the oe muff to a freeflow type. No alterations were done with the pipings, still has stock 2 inch. Tumunog bus nga after that. But what I was after is not the sound itself, instead I was looking for a way to release the back pressure. Note: torque band has adjusted for some reason after I changed the muffs.

wulf::: Maraming pwdeng gawin sa kahit anong parts to add more power. (Price range estimated in thousands)

    1. You could add turbo to your engine, modify the existing turbo if you have one already. (70-90K)
    2. Cylinder head manipulations. (10-50K)
    3. Flywheel skimming. (5-8K)
    4. Intake and Exhaust performance parts (1K-30K)
    5. Regearing (50-70K)

with regards to flywheel skimming, one draw back for this is you will lose engine braking which 4wheelers need when crawling, or in going down inclines. also you can do this if your vehicle is lightened.

one important thing for people who changed to bigger tires is the clutch. you have to change it especially if you have not re geared, look for centerforce brand, they have smooth take-up but gets stronger clamping power once the revs go up.

when i freed my exhaust I felt a shift in the torque band din. when I freed it even further by cutting off all piping from flexible pipe, umurong pa pataas ung torque.
