Last Saturday, the cluctch on our trusty MB100 has started to slip after more than 70K kms of hard work. So my dad asked me to get it fixed. He told me to go to BW Auto Supply in front of NTENZ and MCR along Banawe. My dad told me nagkaayos na sila dun sa store. The whole shebang will cost Php 6K which is for the replacement of the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing using 'original' parts including instillation.

Nagtaka naman ako. Bakit hindi na lang sa RBL or MCR pinadala or even to ferdie or chieffy. Pero it's my father's ride so ayoko na magquestion.

So this morning I go there. Ayos naman. They take everything apart and do their stuff. It's no big amount. Nakakagago kasi. Then this other guy keeps saying na palitan na daw ang fanbelt ko kasi kapag bumigay daw yun sira ang makina ko. Ano ba akala niya sa fanbelt? Timing belt? So I walk all the way to Retiro to visit my friend Joel's store at kinuha ko lahat ng gear oil on display.

Now I feel like I'm stepping on jello everytime I shift.

    Why o why?

Sana tinanong nyo muna dito sa boards, I was almost duped by that same store last year. Sabi nila dun same lang daw??? I vowed never to return to that store again... delikado yung ginagawa nila, eh kung ordinaryong tao lang ang bibili, nakaloko pa sana sila.

My dad is in the U.S. now (he left this morning) so we may never know why until he comes back next week or calls up later tonight.

Kung beforehand niya sinabi sakin (instead of late last night) malamang nagtanong muna ko sa boards. Bad trip talaga.

And the parts which they claim to be original? Yes they are 'original' Korean REPLACEMENT parts. Kaasar talaga.

I hate those friggin shops that asks you to foot any little extra labor, materials or parts they damaged that they're supposed to cover anyway. Anything and everything nalang, sisingilin nila.

Eto pa yung nakaktawa dun sa experience ko - when I went there to have my clutch replaced, I had brought along a new set of engine mounts for them to install. Makes sense, because 4 out of 5 of the corolla's engine mounts are mounted on the tranny. Guess what, they wanted to charge me a separate, exorbitant rate for labor in replacing the engine mounts. I had a discussion with the service manager. I even offered to do it myself just to show them that if the tranny is already disassmbled from the vehicle, it should take less than 5 minutes to replace them. When he noticed that he was dealing with an actual car owner who isn't an idiot (not just some corporate account that they're so used to screwing), he decided to charge me for replacement of only 1 engine mount. Fair enough. Then trouble happens. Their idiot mechanic had popped a bolt head in the bell housing during disassembly. Instead of just trying to extract the remains of the broken bolt, the idiot decides to go the power route and bores the hell out of the tranny bolt mounting. Now, I'm stuck with one oversized bolt on my tranny.

Masyadong papalit palit ang tao sa Casa (can't blame them, OJT sila). Kaya it's better talaga to find a trusted mechanic who will work your car. Ika nga dapat kahit papano ay may pagkakaibigan kayo ng mechanic mo and you see them not just as a mechanic but as a person. Same thing din, dapat they should see you as a person and not just as a customer para may malasakit sila sa work nila.
