Hi sa lahat. I'm about to make my own first car purchase and I'm leaning towards either the Kia Rio 2012 or the Hyundai Elantra 2012. First time ko bumili ng sariling auto pero I've been driving a 2000 Honda City for mga 8yrs na. Ano sa palagay niyo? Or better ba bumili nalang ng 2nd hand na previous generation Mazda 3 or Civic?

if you would be keeping your car for a long time, it would be better to buy brand new.

so between the Rio and Elantra, both korean brands, I'd have to go with Elantra because of the numerous awards it has already won.

Bakit dito sa philippine car talk?

Anyway, i'll go with elantra. Mas malaki, and there's issue with the FC of rio HB. But expect bad service of HARI. So kung may ibang choices pa, mas ok sana

Hmm so what would you recommend? I'm looking at a down payment of around 50k and a monthly amortization of around 20k. Elantra pinaka pasok dito because of its low down payment plans, even if medyo mataas yung monthly. The Civic and Mazda 3 etc nasa around 100k plus yung down eh. The Rio naman 50k down, 18k monthly.

Oh if wrong board to, sorry, please feel free to move it. :-)

Expensive City and Jazz eh. 20% down lang mga nakikita ko. Mas kaya ko mataas na monthly kaysa mataas na down. Hyundai and Kia both have low down payment plans eh.

hindi naman sa nangengelam ako ha, how can you afford a P20K MA wherein you can't afford a 20% DP, so basically, you are not able to save? Or ayaw mo lang mawalan ng savings?

A little of both. Bayad utang pa sa ibang cards, pero nakaplano na by October clear na ako sa lahat ng credit cards ko and maluwag na finances ko. Pero no time to save kasi sana by Xmas may kotse na ako kasi may long road trip kami na pinaplano ni gf. Di na kaya ng City ko yung out of town eh hehe.

That actually is scary. Just want to say what I did, just ignore me, just want to share,

Before I decided buying a Brand New Car, I save 20K a month, and see what is the corresponding effect with my life. There comes na nagkukulang yung pera on hand, so have to withdraw, until such time na hindi na lumalabas yung 20K because of increases and discipline, until dumating yung time na kaya pang dagdagan yung 20K. So there, sabi ko, enough delaying gratification, it's time to gratify! Ahaha!

Kaya naman. Linilimit ko na expenses ko. Right now, yung sobra na pinapambayad ko sa cards is the same as ibabayad ko sa car when I get it. :-) three months lang. Haha went a little wild kasi when I went to HK and Sg. :-P

haha hindi ba delikado yan, sir? medyo malayo kasi yung showroom, so paano kung pa-service? saka yung materials, baka naman maganda performance pero after 2 to 3 years nagbbreak down na?

although maganda nga itsurea ng haima 3. di na mukhang mazda 3. para siyang pinaghalong sentra (sa harap) and elantra (sa likod) and mazda (sa loob). hehe.

interesting, pero bilang first car to and medyo long-term investment, nakakakaba din..:p

Between Vios, Accent, City, Swift, Fiesta, pinaka okay na reviews vs price is yung Rio so yun nagustuhan ko..

Between Alits, Lancer, Cruze, Elantra yung pasok sa budget dahil sa down. Hehe. Pero mukhang okay din yung Focus. Hindi ba mahal maintenance and parts niya kasi hindi made in Asia?

    regarding ford, hindi naman sir.

rio din pinakapogi for me. but what variant sir? masasakit na ulo ng owners ng rio HB dahil sa FC. hehe

sa elantra naman, be prepared sa after-sales ng HARI. masakit din sa ulo

    my choice is also lancer
