nasira kasi ung throttle body ng auto namin(Lancer GSR). and nung papagawa na kami, suggestion nung isang past Mitsu Mechanic e palitan na lang daw namin ung TB namin ng pang-Galant Gti. do you think good move na to? he is offering the TB of Galant for abt 4T pesos....
...tpos inexplain sakin na kelangan daw ipa-rebore ung socket ng intake manifold para magkasya yung TB ng GTi....risky ba tong gagawin ko?
some says that if i wud do that, ill need to change the injectors too? wud it harm my engine if di ako nagpalit agad ng injectors??
i do not race naman e...just want to improve performance.....
hope u guys can reply to my questions....suggestion is very much welcome...
I don't think you need to replace injectors. Increasing throttle body size is one way of increasing intake flow so this should help performance a bit. Mag-cocompensate naman ecu mo for the added flow. Compare the price of replacing it with an original throttle body to know if its worth it. BTW, paano nasira throttle body?
a free-flow throttle body is a tried and tested way of getting 3-5 hp...the question is - is the galant's throttle body optimized for use with all the stock lancer's intake components? if it is, then it's a good idea. otherwise, maybe you should get a TB from an aftermarket company (ralliart maybe?) that is engineered for the lancer.
Think your mechanic doesn't know the problem that's why he wants the TB replaced. Try cleaning the old TB completely specially the vents for the vacuum hoses. The drop in idling is usually caused by blocked vacuum lines leading to the TB- this happens to other cars too. (I only clean mine with a carb cleaner) Don't think you need to replace if all the parts are working within the TB.
aftermarket or bigger injectors ay required for forced induced motors , kung nagpalit ka lang ng TB ay it should not affect the performance of the motor kung stock injectots lang , the bigger the TB the better , for a 1.6 motor , u can go up to 65mm of bore . U can feel the power pero take note that u can notice a drop of fuel mileage .
I would get the GTI TB and find a reliable place to have your intake manifold re-bored for less than what you are being quoted for right now. No need for new injectors, the ECU will compensate for the additional airflow by enriching the mixture.
More air + more gas = more power.
