why won't people tune BMWs ?

Hi! I just noticed that people just keep on tuning FFs like Honda Civics , EGs and none of the FR series like BMW and Mercedes. Isn't it more rewarding to have a powerful , quick BMW rather than a domestic tuned FF?

Same reason Citroen being the tuning brand of choice in the UK, I suppose. (they're cheap, parts are cheap)

People do tune BMWs. There aren't just as many because not everyone can afford it.

bmw tuning is a large, very profitable industry worldwide. there's just much less of them on the road, hence the law of averages tells you that you'll see much less of a market for bmw tuners than, say, honda tuners.

do a google search and you'll find at least 5-6 large, reputable companies that do great business tuning exclusively bmw's.

two more things -
1. bmw's are more complex machines, so the price of entry for companies is higher.
2. because of #1, tuning is much more expensive, therefore making the price of entry for owners higher as well.

Yup, BMW tuning is expensive. Quite a few go through the lengths of engine modifications, but most of them play with intakes and exhausts, like we do.

in the philippines? its too expensive and because there's a small market, nobody wants to take a risk in opening a tuning shop for german marques.

but in germany, there are tuners for bmws: alpina, ac schnitzer, hartge and hamann for example.

And for a fact that BMWs are already good cars by themselves; they handle well, have near neutral weight distribution, and inspire confidence in the driver as they are from the factory. So others will not anymore try to modify it because it already is good enough for most.

Hi. For a BMW 520d, I noticed that changing the ECU OEM unit to an AC Schnitzer control unit is not that expensive and the power gain is satisfactory.

there are lots of tuned bimmers and benzes here pero you won't see them too often. porsches madami rin.

pero for most people, it's quite expensive and you can get a lot more speed from a japanese rice rocket without it hurting the bank too much. hehe!
