New City 1st 1,000km check (no oil change)

How true? The PMS/Warranty booklet of the new Honda City notes that NO oil change for the 1st 1,000km. I asked the Honda service guy and he told me that this is now the maintenance practice for the new city. Anyone heard the same comment?

yup, that's correct. all the new Honda vehicles don't call for a 1,000 km oil-change because they are factory-fitted with Honda fully synthetic oil.

the first oil-change on the schedule is at 10,000 km/6 months, whichever comes first. kaso mahal yung oil, almost P3,000 for 5 or so liters.

kung sa per-6 months yung nasusundan mo rather than the per-10,000 km, i suggest just using regular mineral oil and changing it every 5,000 km/6 months. masusunog lang pera mo sa fully synthetic kung palit ka ng palit every 6 months.

Kaya naman pala sabi ng service attendant na ang advantage lang if you opt to change oil on the 1st 1,000km is free labor. No performance advantage daw. Free labor nga pero syempre you have to pay for the new oil. Anyway, thanks for replying.

teka, nakakatakot yan ha. imagine, the first 1,000 km is supposed to be the most critical tune-up of any vehicle. why so? in my opinion, kasi eto yung pinaka-break in period ng engine, transmission/differential. maraming bakal-bakal yan na debris na hahalo sa langis. kapag hindi tinanggal yan, e gagasgas yan sa mga parts sa loob, meaning mas malaking gastos or "premature" wear on the components. anyway, sabi ng honda ok lang yan di ba? why not follow them, malay natin ok nga lang yun, nice to know that there were improvements di ba? isa lang ibig sabihin nyan, nakakapagdevelop sila nang mga cars na less maintenance, which is ok.

Hmmm... ngayon ko lang narinig yan a. Dati kasi kaya after 1,000 nagpapalit, ang oil na nakalagay ay break in oil. Mas manipis yata yun kaya dapat palitan.

Sa bagay, kung sinabi ng kasa, baka ok naman. Baka yan ang improvement over previous engine technology.

hmmm...possible/probably ba na pinatakbo na nila ng 1,000km ung bawat isang city before they rolled out of the plant?

Palagay ko walang problema yan..

Yun C-Class ko.. 1st 10,000 km ang oil change.(fully Synthetic Oil din)

you'd be surprised how these cars are tested before they are brought out of the plant....

pinapamper natin sa first 1000km?.. e meron silang rolling track dun sa plant that they drive the cars through the gears of the car eh... almost top speed....

so in effect.. no more break in period.

lahat kaya yun? palagay ko hindi naman siguro. lest you want to spend a generous amount of time, testing all cars that rolls off the plant. it'll be a tedious process. pero ok din yun kung ganon nga ginagawa nila.

may city din ako...yung forst 1 thou kms checkup---ndi ko na pinacheck dahil alam ko magsasayang lang ako ng oras and wala din papalitan ang honda ngeto...so far 6 mos na ok naman 5 thou kms na tinatakbo...next month ko papa change oil...

parang antagal naman kung 1000km patatakbuhin ang engine sa loob ng planta.. siguro nga modern na talaga ang design nila..
