How to clean K&N air filter without buying the K&N filter clean and recharge kit?

I'm not trying to be a cheapskate . . . just being practical.

Remove loose dirt/dust. Soak/wash with diluted joy liquid detergent and dry. Apply small amount of singer oil.

pwede po kaya yun engine oil na fully synthetic 5w 40?

No sir.

Engine oil is a lot viscous, 97 vs 9.6 *40degC. This means pwede magform na gum ang dust sa filter if you do.

The practical move is to use k&n recharger kit. Subok na yan e. Using detergent and other oils can damage your filter or engine.

kapag oily at sobrang dumi, I sprayed it w/ degreaser then soak/wash it with dishwashing liquid. after washing, I bring it to my neighbors vulcanizing shop and blow dry it with compressor air. kapag sinisipag ako, nilalagyan ko ng recharging oil ;) lately hindi na, I run it dry as it is na lang and ok naman. btw, make sure to clean your MAF sensor too, it makes a lot of difference kapag nalinisan yung MAF sensor.

I use engine degreaser also to clean it then use water & dishwashing liquid for final cleaning. Air dry lang ako na mga 1 day tapos I use 2t oil.

Apply ko lang 2t oil sa topmost part nung filter tapos i let it drip down. After a day okay na yan. First time ko sobrang dami nga 2t na nagamit ko, dapat kunti lang pala, mga 50ml would do. 2 days yan kay may reserve ako na air filter. Every 15,000kms ako naglilinis.

Naapektuhan syempre, dyan nga nagdedepende yung filter, the dirt sticks sa oil kaya hindi na dumidiretso sa engine.
the filter media is somewhat more of a filter oil holder than a filter itself, it does stop dirt, but not as much as
a media with the filter oil.

apektado at less effective ang filtering niya kapag dry, sa oil kasi kakapit dapat yung dumi. pero mas madali naman huminga makina mo kapag dry. when applying oil, just be careful lang not to put too much oil. nung bagong bili mo yung K&N mo napansin mo naman siguro gaano siya ka-oily ;) kapag sobra lagay mo ng oil, malamang kakapit sa MAF sensor probe mo yung oil at dumi, hindi masyado madetect nung sensor yung air flow so mahina hatak.

unscrew mo lang yung sensor, then spray mo ng electronic contact cleaner yung sensor probe. kapag natuyo ikabit mo na. ramdam mo malakas ang hatak. you can clean it same time sa filter, kung madumi na yung filter malamang madumi din yung sensor probe.

Don't use wd40. Remember hahalo sa engine mo ang air coming from the air filter. Use 2t oil. That is the best that you can do. Diesel man or gas ang engine mo.

yes, after your filter box. i measure niya yung mass air flow. meron ka pa isang sensor, yung MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) naman bago sa intake manifold. both of them are use by the engine ecu to calculate yung AF ratio mo.

I saw sa concorde before na meron sila filter cleaner and recharge kit na mas mura,
but simota yung brand, i dunno if parehas lang ng quality, but if your in a budget,
pwede mo itry.
