October 5th, 2004 10:56 PM #81Ano daw nangyari pagkatapos niya kinabit sa expedition niya?
Years back, over dinner, we were talking about the expedition's fuel economy. Supposedly 2-3 km/liter lang strictly city driving, walang highway. Then one of my friend said that he gets at least 4 even 5 km/liter. What!! Sabi ng iba. Sagot niya, it all depends on the driving habits.

Naging matipid daw sa gas after lagyan. Personally, we would not put one on our Expy.
Driving style lang yan talaga. My dad gets 5-7 km/L on the city cycle with our 4.6 Expy. Basta dapat magaan lang ang paa. Wala namang karera, eh.

October 6th, 2004 12:49 AM #84I agree with those who say that driving habits can drastically alter fuel consumption. With this in mind, a vacuum gauge that do not cost much is the best indicator for real time fuel consumption, albeit indirectly.
The vacuum gauge is connected to monitor vacuum pressure at the intake manifold. As any competent engine mechanic knows, vacuum drops when the throttle is opened and vacuum increases when the throttle is closed (as in during idle). Hence if one installs a vacuum gauge and drive in such a way as to keep the vacuum level at fairly higher value most of the time, then fuel consumption will be lowest.
Try it, and you will notice that vacuum can be maintained at higher values (lower fuel consumption) when you are easy on the gas pedal. Somebody once said that the most economical driving is to imagine that there is an egg between your foot and the pedal and drive without breaking the egg. This can be proven true with a vacuum gauge. With Manila traffic, there is no point being hard on the pedal. As you increase speed on the highway, one will notice that is becomes difficult to maintain higher vacuum, consistent with the fact that high speed requires more fuel.
So install a vacuum gauge, take care of that egg, and save fuel ! :DLast edited by kinyo; October 6th, 2004 at 01:03 AM.

Well, sabi nga ng erpats ko kung mag-e-Expy ka dapat huwag kang mag-rereklamo sa consumo ng gasolina. In the first place alam mo ng malakas sa gas tapos nagtitipid ka.

well, expected na talaga sa expedition ang malakas sa gas. ang laki ng makina nun e. imagine, 3X ng size ng makina ng LXi ko? :D tapos matic pa.

Maglalagay nga akong itlog sa gas pedal ko mamaya. Wala akong vacuum gauge e. Hehe.
And agree ako sa tatay ni FrankDrebin.
Any reviews for the Triton GLX 4WD 6MT? Siya ata pinakasulit na middle 4WD variant. Price range...
