pipe: stainless steel or regular?

yes. notice yun mga nag pa headers na stainless laging putok yun paint sa hood. also yun weld ng stainless if not properly done madaling mapunit. it looks good though and more durabel than black iron.

tig welding will do the trick on stainless pipes.

i noticed that stainless steel pipes utilized for headers are only shiny silver when new. but as the months pass by, they gradually turn into brown. i think it's really the heat factor that discolors them this way

yes, i tried them both in my corolla liftback then with 2t engine. first, the stainless one (4-1 design) looks good initially but mahal and singawin due to excessive absorption of heat, ang layo ng presyo compared to BI (black iron) but the good thing sa BI pwede pa mo ng VHT paint of you choice.
