strong smell of gasoline/smoke at cold start

pansin ko lately, whenever i-start ko oto sa umaga or kapag matagal naka park yung oto (like sa opis) pag start ko ang lakas ng amoy ng gasolina.

I've checked my fuel lines, fuel filter and other hoses going to the engine wala naman ako makita sira.

ano kaya cause nito?

Car is a 97 GLXi lancer.

same here sa case ko. may konting usok na lumalabas na kulay puti....hmmm?

Question lang po EFI na po ba yung Lancer niyo? dun naman po sa isa, kung umuusok na po ng white smoke lalo na sa cold start malamang po yung Valve Seal ay masama na, sumasama na yung Oil sa Combustion chamber kaya ganun po nangyayari.

check your vent hoses. sa front ba yun scent or sa likod? yun neighbor ko dati ganyan din. found out that the hose on top of the gas tank was cracked and was leaking gas when the tank is full.

sa likod po, kailangan pa po ba ibaba yung gas tank para ma check yung sinasabi ninyo na hose? Medyo di ko pa kasi na tse-check yung area na yun eh.

i think you really need to remove the gas tank or kung accessible check mo yun small rubber hoses na papunta ng filler baka natanggal, vent din kasi yun.

Akin ganyan din, pinakanoticeable sa may rear door area... not the engine area, not the gas cap area, pero sa labas lang not sa interior ng car.

yes exactly, we checked the tank (pulled it down) and the gas-tank area wala kami makita diperensya or possible culprit.

hmmm.... anyways, obsebahan ko muna ulit.

see if may nababakbak na undercoat kasi gasoline dilutes the undercoat paint sa bandang floater. sana na check mo yun hoses papunta ng vent.

paps, musta na ang auto mo? ano problem? notice ko kasi, ung elantra ko, ganiyan na din..hirap magstart pag matagal naka-park..pero minsan naman, 1 click lang..EFI din ung sa akin..

Pag carborator may tagas na ung carborator or minsan naka bukas ung exhaust ng AC mu kahit nakasara sa mga levers kasi nag stuck minsan yan sa labas you have to shut it of yourself pag sa fuel injection fuel lines or fuel filter needs replacing. For old cars such as carborators mas maganda pag premium fuel rather than unleaded kasi my 1988 sentra ganyan problem pag unleaded so i have to go back to premium and we had to change the carborator kit

to be honest, wala talaga kami makita leak or whatever that can cause the fuel smell at start-up.

Actually my wife noticed for the past couple of weeks, wala na yung gasoline smell pag start.

I'm also at a lost kung ano ang pwede maging culprit nung gasoline smell.

sirs, just noticed this last night after 45 mins of driving. mga 5 mins na nakaparada ng kotse (engine off), i noticed a strong smell of gasoline fumes coming from the car.

galing yung smell directly from the gas cap area. opened the gas cap, may pressure na sumingaw. left the car alone again for 5 mins. tried smelling around the car but its only present at the gas cap area. kaninang umaga wala na.

pwede bang defective na yung gas cap ko? if ever, san makakabili ng replacement. ride is a 97 mit lancer, glxi-efi. TIA.
